Well the solution to that is simple: enforce property rights better.

Which solves most environmental issues without actually caring about the environment.

Which is how one should always go through life

How? All that would happen is we’d return to the state of affairs in the 1800s or so when pollution was considered a violation of property rights

Eminent Domain existed back then

It’s being used to undermine property rights in my state, it needs to be weakened so those with a lot of money can’t come in and snatch land from under peoples rights.

Well, basically, a major energy company is using eminent domain to snatch up land to build a pipe-line. Said company is the one responsible for numerous environmental disasters in my state, and each time the land was acquired via eminent domain and against public interest. The company has a lot of money, and a lot of lawmakers on their dime.

So, this personal experience makes me link strong eminent domain with potential environmental damage.

Oh I misrea you. I thought you said you would be against weakening eminent domain.

Well whatever the old system was better, maybe weaken ED alongside it.

I just realised that some religions are like SJW.
They can’t accept other people’s views other than their own and constantly believe that they’re “right”.

… Is that right because if not, I might sound like a prick.

…well, some don’t even allow for any doubt whatsoever or else you’re auto-damned because how dare you doubt the omnipotent God who has done nothing but love you you ungrateful insolent heathen, basically.

Doubt is a double-edged sword.
Sure, most people say that doubt is a weakness but to me, doubt actually stops you from doing stupid decisions like murdering someone because of emotions.

Like, you’re going to jump over a gap between two building. Doubt makes you assess the situation on whether or not you’d succeed. A person without doubt would jump without hesitation and is most likely to fall to his or her demise.

…yeah, that’s probably why people who take a “leap of faith” are so often compared to sheep, even in their own fucking book.

…okay, I know it’s lemmings that leap off the edge in the metaphor, but that’s actually a myth and sheep are just all around one of the easiest species to manipulate. Note how no religious text warns you about the wolf in shepherd’s clothing.

I was raised in a Catholic family, and I used to be fairly devout to the faith when I first moved in with my grandmother, who is a very devout Catholic. It’s been a while since I’ve been active in religion, and I’ve never been a very spiritual person anyway.

I’m more agnostic leaning on disbelief than anything, though, and I’m well aware that I live a life of sin right now but I don’t really want to change anything. I’m pretty happy with my hellbound lifestyle and I think taking it away from me would only make things worse, so I’ll just keep doing things as I am now.

’Tis all good.

There is that one quote that goes “Courage is not the lack of fear, it is acting despite that fear.”

I’d also like to add that “Courage is not the lack of fear, that’s stupidity.”

I am back to rant about the horrible wonders of the Islamic hadith.

Hadith is the collection of writings that showcase how the Prophet Muhammad MAY have lived. Note as a I emphasised the word “may”. These writings are based on old traditions held during said time and are remembered either through text, story telling or simple rumours.

This creates a problem.

For one thing, the hadith has too many contradictions compared to the Quran. Muhammad never said to follow the hadith as it has yet to even exist. His words of peace is different than the words said in the hadith. In example, while the hadith stated that all those who leave Islam are to be executed, Muhammad himself never said so as he never experienced the problem first-hand. During his time, people don’t leave Islam in large numbers. Only after his death did it start.

Another would be the insulting of Muhammad. During his lifetime, he had faced various obstacles including attempted murder. In each obstacle, he was able to handle it strategically and minimising damage. In the hadith, it was said that insulting him is death. Now, how do these come together? Let’s be real here; if Muhammad wa able to survive attempted murder with a calm mind, do you really expect a petty insult to be worth much?

Third example and most prominent one, the drawing of Muhammad. The hadith states that drawing Muhammad in anyway is forbidden. Now, what most people don’t realise is that it’s not forbidden against God. It was forbidden as an attempt to counter idolatry. They believed that drawing him would make his image as the focus of worship. They were not wrong btw but it did create many problems due to the changing of times. For one thing, we don’t do idolatry anymore. All forms of art are simply art. Of course, Muslims could not accept the changing of culture and think that they should stay the same way it had been years ago.

Which all brings us to this. Is the hadith really true even as it’s full of contradictions? Why do people believe it without a second thought when it can prove of more harm than good? And as the hadith are just writings based on Muhammad’s life, can we really be expected to follow the lifestyle of a man who had gone to war for so many years? He may have good teaching but all he did was of necessity of said time.

We live in the time of peace. We cannot b expected to live under the rules provided during the time of war. Those who had only known war for all their lives, have different values than those who had only known peace. The difference is incredibly large and this will- no, has formed so many of today’s problems.

We should not let our ancestors’ choices define our right to choose. Instead, we should make our ancestors’ choices as lessons to be taken. Everyone who has ever been human has make mistakes. Are we to follow our ancestors’ without question and redo the same mistakes they had made?

Which is more important? The choices made by those before us, or the choices we will make for those after us?
