I’ve been pondering the old “Galaxy Class vs. Star Destoryer” debate and I’ve realized something.

Everyone always brings up that the canonical power outputs of the two classes is the most important reason why the SD would beat the GC. But there is an even better reason why Star Wars has the edge here.

Because the Star Trek universe seems to have forgotten that fucking carriers exist.

What’s that phaser going to do when you’re being swarmed by fighters, bombers, interceptors, and troop landing transports before you’re even in range of the Destoryer?

Noooo, the suncrusher was bs cause it could do what 4 superweapons did and put it all in a fighter.

Targeting computers in ST are alot more accurate at tracking with phasers. Criticising it is like saying “Yeah, how dare they use homing missiles on jets, they should just be fighting with bullets the whole time despite an easier alternative being avaliable…”

The principle behind Star Wars weapons is they’re stuff straight out of WWII. Like Turbolasers are the big naval cannons you’d find on battleships. Which are great for pounding targets with raw damage but utterly terrible at tracking fast moving fighters and for that you’d use flak guns (or their Star Wars equivalent).

But everything changes when you replace those weapons with laser beams that can track fast movers while not sacrificing any of the punch.

The principle behind phasers is just plain more advanced than anything in the second world war.

Star Trek: Discovery did not forget this. unfortunately…
