IIRC, the shortages are due to:
* worker strikes from poor working conditions, by greedy bosses who want only profit
* a surge in demand from post-Covid recovery
* supply chain disruptions caused by lockdowns and closed businesses
* lack of production due to the Covid lockdowns

That's why we need bits of so-called "socialism" - properly known as "welfare" - so corporates won't turn our society into slave societies or feudalism by having too much power.
