A public school coach held very public prayer sessions after games, on the field, with both teams. He was eventually made to stop doing that when some parents said that their kids felt pressured to join in at the risk of being excluded or mistreated for not participating. He acquiesced at first, opting instead to do private prayers himself. Except he didn't, instead he would walk out onto the field himself and make a big show of it at the goal line. He also went on a bunch of talk shows and encouraged "supporters" to join him. Eventually, it got to the point where his supporters would rush the field to join him, even trampling a young band member at one event.

The school put him on leave, and eventually terminated him when he refused to stop the practice.

He sued, and now the SC is looking close to geutting the Lemon test and weaken the Coercion test. Doing either of those would greatly weaken the separation of church and state.
