There's a town in VA called Pound, yes it is essentially Pound Town.

And Pound is dying, because the coal industry packed up and died there. It's in Wise County, on the WVa border and part of one of the poorest stretches in the state. The town has gotten so bad that the GA has voted to revoke its town charter and merge it into the county.

Wise, and neighboring Lee, are deep red county'ies that have, for years, been fed lies by Republicans that "coal was coming back" and that they didn't need to diversify. It would all be OK if not for those "regulations".

Now, a majority of VAs border counties, old coal country, are dying. With Wise and Lee basically facing the brunt of it.
