Because the fundamental problem of Capitalism involves concentrating most of the wealth of the market and world in the hands of a few people while leaving most of the rest above the subsistence line or lower. Like what’s happening in America with the shrinking of the middle class.
With 7 billion or so people in the world, it’s true that millions might have been lifted from poverty, but at the expense of impoverishing another few billion in return. It’s a classic dialectical proposition that only can be found in the full truth (edit: as in, the full truth that overall, capitalism causes poverty) when viewed alongside its negation.
Brain drain exists regardless of economic systems. This problem is huge in Greece, as big brains (along with pretty much everybody else) cannot find utility for their skills.
Google ‘greece brain drain’ . Among the top articles, one is from Nature, saying how austerity is killing greek science. From Speigle “unemployment and recession in Greece leads to Brain Drain” and mentions how 120,000 professionals have emigrated the country.
I think the question is interesting, because Marx does suggest in the Communist Manifesto, how emigrants and rebels ought to have their assets seized. But one of the biggest investments cannot be taken away from emigrants: their knowledges and technical skills.
For your American government, maybe, but the rest of the world seems to be doing fine. Looks like a problem unique to a country whose government is brought out by money in politics and excessive lobbying.

Europe only got out of the dark ages and improved because of the Black Death, which killed so many people that wealth from the dead was spread out among the survivors. Whoever was left either inherited the money from their dead landlords or their work became valuable since there was less laborers to go around. People suddenly had more spending power which brought about the Renaissance.
Europe didn’t just “fix itself”, it took a disaster to bring about wealth redistribution.
You may as well say Medieval/Dark age Europe was hopeless with how barbaric it was, and yet it improved.

- We tried taxing them too little by Trickle Down Economics. All that did was create the problem we live in today.
- I doubt you’ll find too many advocates who’ll “tax them too much”. All anybody asks is that when the average Joe makes around 30,000 a year then the guy who makes 1,000,000 or more pay a slight degree more. Because when you start dealing with that many zeroes even a “slight degree” can mean the difference of an extra few hundreds to few thousand minimum.

They’ll rapidly find no other nation bends over backwards so feverishly for them like America does, learning what “Free Market” really means. Big Pharma in particular; they try running their racket anywhere else in the developed world and they’ll find oops, everywhere else has government run healthcare. I give Gary Johnson some slack there since it’s unfeasible to know what the capital of most rando nations off the top of your head.
