Daily Beast just reported that the Governor of Arkansas has announced that at the current time there will be no exceptions to the abortion law outside of threatening the women’s life. So if a 14 year old is raped by her father or relative. There will be no exceptions made for her.
I don’t know how pro lifers sleep at night with this kind of logic.

Sadly. I got into arguments with pro lifers on Youtube. They keep telling me they want to protect the “Baby” yet they are appalled by the idea of universal child care, parental leave and other types of governmental assistance that would help the parent and children survive. It doesn’t make any sense.

Its not even a fetus at that stage, so whenever they use the term baby or worst “potential life” I often see it as emotional manipulation. Because baby paints a different picture than the small clump of cells that form during the first trimester.
“potential life” can be applied to sperm so they should be against wankers too but that wouldn’t be a popular position to take given that the pro life movement has a large male backing.

I feel its a failing of society when you can’t protect your own citizens from gun violence especially children. This one guy I was talking to went for the common “Mental health, suicide and gang violence” combo. Telling me how limiting gun access won’t stop criminals from getting guns thus serving as a hurdle for “law abiding citizens” And that people would just kill themselves with pills instead. He then went on about Using guns to prevent a tyrannical government. So its safe to say this guy was really out there.

- That would legitimize political murder. You’d quickly see people trying to kill other judges and politicians they don’t like.
- That would make these judges/politicians martyrs, increasing support for their rulings/laws and decreasing support for abortion.
- That would also make the Capitol rioters look good in comparison.
- If you kept democracy, people would simply elect similar politicians again. You’d have to introduce an authoritarian rule and oppress the opposition (which is a huge chunk of population).
I’m pretty sure you yourself could list many more downsides and ways it could go wrong.

Republicans are reportedly grumbling behind closed doors in worry that the end of Roe might’ve hurt their chances in the midterms. Not the ending of Roe, the fact that there’s consequences.
Good. Make there be consequences. For 50 years Roe was supposed to be the red line; the thing everyone agreed was untouchable unless you hated holding office and wanted out by the next election.
Make it that. If Republicans have gains after crossing the supposed “red line”, then that means there is not line. They can strip you of any right whatsoever and there will be no consequences.
And let me remind everyone that the one thing Republicans hated most after abortions was social security.

I agree 100% with this unironically and believe moving forward it is useless to do shit like hold hands and sing or sign petitions. Things will need to get dirty. Mlk said “Riots are the language of the unheard.” and the government doesn’t listen unless something happens.I wouldn’t say it’s useless, as it is the only thing some of us, esp. the disabled like myself, can do. But i also agree that rioting is necessary. Property destruction is necessary. Screaming is necessary. They’re not listening when we ask nicely. The MAJORITY of us didn’t want this. It was unelected officials that made this call. And it needs to stop.

And getting rid of Roe V Wade and taking away freedom for people to not have babies isn’t already making the judges super unpopular?

Last I checked, people didn’t vote for Supreme judges like Brett Kavanaugh or Clarence Thomas, nor did they vote to strip themselves of their own rights.
In case you didn’t get it by now? This is already authoritarian rule, and has been for years.
