Don't blame me, I voted for the other guy. (Politics General)

to be fair, if any candidate has less then 50% of the delegatea it should go to second round, that’s not unfair. The superdelegate stuff is a bit of a dick move though. If this was reversed and happened on the republican side, would you be rooting for super delegates to block Trump?

Remind me again of when the candidates are basically locked in? Does Super Tuesday determine that? I’m pretty sure that last time round it wasn’t until June or July that the candidates were locked in; or an I misremembering that?

The final 4 or so states cast their vote on June 2. A plurality (or even a majority) winner is likely to be determined before then, but it does mean by then it will more or less be all said and done.

Before then, after this Saturday there’ll be 163 out of 4765 delegates determined, or about 3.4% of the vote. Rough math tell me after Super Tuesday there’ll be 1635 delegates determined, or roughly 34% of the total.

Dow just crashes through 25,000. Congrats! Big cuts in unnecessary regulations continuing.
The Stock Market hit 25,000 yesterday. Jobs are at an all time record - and that is before we fix some of the worst trade deals and conditions ever seen by any government. It is all happening!
Dow just broke 25,000. Tremendous news!

You look at the numbers long-term and the market isn’t actually that bad, but it feels like we’ve gotten a lot of unnecessary volatility from Donny Don’t and the Supply Side Crew. Great news for the “high-frequency traders” (read: Skynet), not so great news for everyone else.

Remember, experts have actually created a “volfefe” index solely meant to keep track of the (surprisingly numerous) times when Trump singlehandedly created volatility and loss on an otherwise stable rise in the stock market.

Remember that next time Trump or his propaganda news networks brag about milestones they’ve hit before.

I don’t think this is something you can pin on Trump, people are panicking over the virus and acting irrationally.

I can and I will because he is.

Trump’s unnecessary trade war already created stock market uncertainty, but now the Coronavirus will double that uncertainty. Further compounding the issue is that Corona is adversely effecting trade, doing even more damage to US/China trade negotiations.

On top of, you know, slashing CDC budgets while we’re in the middle of a global hullabaloo over the new virus craze. Sure doesn’t evoke confidence there.

Cool, thanks. I guess we’ll have a good idea by Wednesday who the nominee will be.

of course you can, I can blame morgan Freeman for it, it still doesn’t make me right. This started in China and panic grew when it went to Italy, Trump’s actions would not have changed this. I oppose his trade war, but since this virus would still exist with or without it, and the disruption it would cause would still exist, means blaming Trump for it is just partisan whining.

Also, to prove the point, Trump didn’t slash the CDC’s budget. The budget he proposed had cuts, yes, but the president proposing a budget and congress passing a budget are two different things. The president always makes budget proposals, and congress has not passed them, as always. This was fact checked when the Dems were lying at the debate:

https://apnews.com/d36d6c4de29f4d04beda3db00cb46104

“THE FACTS: They’re both wrong to say the agencies have seen their money cut. Bloomberg is repeating the false allegation in a new ad that states the U.S. is unprepared for the virus because of “reckless cuts” to the CDC. Trump’s budgets have proposed cuts to public health, only to be overruled by Congress, where there’s strong bipartisan support for agencies such as the CDC and NIH. Instead, financing has increased.”

This is a case of something bad is happening so politicians want to blame the other side. It doesn’t matter what the other side has actually done, you blame them to make them look bad so you win the election.

Trump’s handling of Maria and the Coronavirus makes Bush’s handling of Katrina look masterful.

>tfw you hate Trump so much that you lionise G. W. Bush.
If that isn’t peak TDS, I don’t know what is.
Oh please. No one here is lionizing George W. Bush. The simple fact of the matter is that Donald Trump and his administration have continually demonstrated indifference to outright incompetence every time an emergency or crisis that requires a government response has popped up. So much so that even something as poorly handled as the aftermath of hurricane Katrina looks better by comparison.

I know, I just find it funny that those Obama-era bumper stickers about Jorge have had a semi-ironic appreciation come up from the very people who detested the notion that Bush 2 was “better than most people think!” I mean, could you imagine after a Democrat is elected, either this year or in 2024, people saying the same things about Trump a decade from now?

It’ll be even funnier if it’s between the likes of the Socialist Rifle Association or Redneck Revolt and the government, as the grabbers won’t know who to back.
