“Muh platforming” types are elitists who believe that most people who aren’t woke are stupid; while they themselves would never succumb to hateful misinformation, the great unwashed would, and so they must be kept from such things.
 
I do tend to like Red Scare, even if I’m a bit ambivalent about some of the things they say, so I’m biased. I’m not sure if I’d put them on the “dirtbag left”, though, because the dirtbag left seems to revolve a lot more around macho masculinity.

What gets me is that the anti-‘dirtbag left’* folks are doing exactly what they accuse their opponents of doing: circling the wagons around their specific orthodoxy, and are acting as the ultimate arbiters of ‘their side’ at the expense of potential allies, converts, and sympathisers; along with demanding that said outsiders automatically support them against their opponents. It’s why I feel especially bad for the Sanders supporters, as they’re nominally onboard with all that stuff, yet are disparaged by the orthodoxy because of their “attitudes.”
 
It’s why I think they’re severely damaging their chances in November, as you cannot shame or bully people into voting for your preferred candidate. Even though I have my doubts about Sanders and the efficacy of his ideas, they aren’t bad ideas in-and-of-themselves, and I fully understand why they and he resonates with a lot of people.
 
Even if you subscribe to the Sargon of Applebee’s line of thinking that [perceived] “crazy socialist” candidates like Corbyn or Sanders can’t win due to the mainstream not wanting “crazy socialists,” you have to at least admit that Biden isn’t any better. If you twist my arm, I’d argue that Warren would’ve been enough to meet both sides halfway; or at least enough to knock out the orange menace.
 
As for Red Scare, Cum Town, and Chapo Trap House, I’m pretty indifferent towards them, though find CTH pretty funny at times. The hatred towards them from the left is bizarre though, and goes back to what I was saying about the leftist orthodoxy hurting its cause more than helping it by arbitrarily excluding more ‘unorthodox’ voices.
 
*‘dirtbag left’ was coined by Amber Frost of CTH, and although I don’t consider them that, I use it as a title moreso than a disparagement.

I guess my take on Red Scare is kind of like yours on CTH: they can be funny, and genuinely insightful when they make an attempt to be principled and don’t shitpost. I believe a big part of what makes the Wokeness/Warren section of the left doubt the dirtbag faction’s sincerity is what they see as a destructive anti-establishmentarianism that, in a pinch, would make them favor Trump over Biden (think Joe Rogan and his audience). And as much as I find the neuroticism of the woke left draining, I can’t help but share in it; Trump, and the Republican Party as constituted under him, fill me with existential dread.

That’s what I have against the LePen crew. Everytime, they lose. But people still believe she has a chance to win. And everytime she’s there to lose against the liberal candidate.

It starts, again, makes an amazing sound, revs it up, everyone is happy, and roll for 300m. It makes a weird noise again and stop in the middle of the road. He’s pissed but he still loves his collector Harley but still have to ride the bus or the train, which gets expensive on the long term and not the freedom he expected, but one day it will work! To the surprise of nobody, the navy captain who saved his crew’s lives by blowing the whistle on a Covid-19 outbreak on his ship was fired because Trump thought it made him look bad. Once again revealed by Trump himself being too stupid to not say the quiet part out loud.

yeah… how dare that Captain do the correct thing for self preservation of him, his crew and all the people on that ship and during a pandemic? How inconsiderate of him, not thinking of how this will make Trump look, which, his firing will in no way will result in a bad look for Trump, no sir. That’s discipline. In being discreet. Doesn’t make one feel at all like they would’ve been ignored if he went by the protocol.
 
How dare he do the right and responsible thing for saving lives?

From reading the article the real issue was the way he did it, unsecured, around the chain of command, where it was leaked.

As a non-American, I do not believe that American foreign policy will change in the next ten years. Which worries me greatly when you think that China will try to expand out the South China Sea in the next few years. While I don’t believe that the United States will use their nuclear arsenal, the conflict is becoming more intense every year. And I don’t know where this threat will heading. :-/

Ah, okay. Yes, from an American perspective, I would say the same thing. Without now seeing myself as a European right now, I have always suspected that the American system will not really survive a disease like this. But at this point I would like to be proven wrong at any time, because I really do not want the US to perish. Yes, I have my beef with US politics, but not personally, and especially not with any American citizen him/herself. But also the German system is reaching its limit here and the European system in general I hope that the corona virus will finally show how much the capitalist system only favours those who have been favoured by fate. It just can’t go on like this. Because Corona is only the beginning. As soon as all those climate policy problems cross the point-of-no-return, we will all be able to say goodbye to conservative ideas. Yeah, it’s nice that a Brazilian fascist is deciding the future of the rainforest. Uch…
 
Edit: No, I do not support communist or strange systems. I am a staunch supporter of the social democratic system and hope that we all finally realise that predatory capitalism will not take any of our generations anywhere.

Hmm, I wouldn’t worry so much if I were you. You’re still young. You’ll probably survive the whole crisis. It would be in your interest if those who are too old (in thinking, a. k. a. politicians) would die to make room for your generation. I would give my life at any time if I could guarantee that my son’s generation could finally live free, without oppression and in unity with nature.
 
I’m sorry if I offend moderate opinions. But I really have very little patience with that generation that basks in its self-proclaimed glory after the world wars without thinking about the existence of further generations.

That’s implying the younger generation is better than the previous, that the previous generation didn’t had the same views you explained. Cause that’s exactly the thing any May 68 liberal boomer will talk about how they were in the past. And the generation before. And the generation after us and so on.  
You’re in a sophism myself have fallen into a while ago, that our generation is different. It’s not. And telling it’d be a good thing you or anyone die to ensure the next can live in what we expect leaves something you don’t know, how it will really turn out like.
 
Without oppression and unity with nature is cute, every generation wanted that. The last gen like this who had it was peasants when it was pretty much generalized.
 
But on the oppression thing, don’t go imagine that’s acquired, with new laws every week, new mass surveillance, political correctness and propaganda from TV/news (basically for profit) the world we live in today is already different than it was 10, 20 years ago.

The part where Trump has already tried to quarantine a ship offshore before to “keep [the number of confirmed cases] down”?
 
By the way, that same captain has also tested positive for Covid-19. Imagine that.

That’s what I was saying. He informed as many people as he could in hopes he would get help and fast. Sometimes, you will say fuck protocol, because they had 100 people infected with an incurable disease during a pandemic.. If Trump and they Navy chain of command are Embarrassed by this, they can go out in the open too with the rest of these people exposed to the virus threat, if they think these days is just, Business as usual.

What I’m more curious about is why the captain was out there and what he was tasked to do? A more complete story of what happened and why.
