His fanbase reacts well to maybe-racist-maybe-not comments. Had his voters looked at him sideways and gave him crickets and jeers anytime he made some bizarro racist comments, he would have changed his tone. Dude’s a bees-knees-man, and an entertainer. He knows how to work the crowd.
 
I don’t think he’s inherently racist. He just kinda learned maybe early on that a little ego-stroking a certain race really do him good.

Maybe not all schools generally, though I have seen a shocking number of stories where public schools have been teaching arguably anti-America rhetoric. In my early school days, we were taught to respect the flag, be grateful to live in this nation, and say the Pledge of Allegiance. Apparently things are different these days.

Who knows. But I would say they’re going about it all wrong. If you want to teach kids about the mistakes of the past in a historical context as a way of avoiding repeat mistakes, I’m all for it. But if you do it in a way that creates more of a political statement that has no educational value, then that’s bull shit.

You in school to be turned into replaceable parts for the international capitalist machine, bwoay. The surefire way that you even get taught some basic nationalist value is when you join the army or the police department.
 
Singapore, Japan and South Korea still do mandatory service and you can see majority of them are proud and respectful to their country and heritage.

Fun fact, the original pledge was written by a Christian socialist who used to preach about the dangers of capitalism from a Boston pulpit. He also formally believed that the education system should not be used to reinforce national identity, but instead be used to instill common virtues.
 
Granted, he was also an extreme racist that thought other races were inferior and was against race-mixing and immigration. So, mixed bag.

That’s what we’re losing here, respect. You can teach about the mistakes and failures of the past and still teach respect for your nation, and gratitude for being in a place where you have infinite opportunity. But no, can’t have that in public schools anymore. And now look, the protestors in Hong Kong are more respectful and patriotic for the United States than a lot of actual Americans are.

I had a teacher, who is still employed at my high school mind you, that used to say that immigrants were naturally predisposed to be communists, and that anyone who wants workers rights is trying to destroy capitalism.
 
My point being is that there are 130,930 public K-12 schools, 1,626 public colleges and universities, and around 4000 public vocational schools. With several million teachers, professors, and courses. To make any blanket statement about them is idiotic.

I was once given 3 days of inschool detention for refusing to stand for the pledge.

They used to. I loved holding the flag in class and reciting the pledge. At least that’s how it worked at my school. One student would get to hold the flag.

The Trump admin is forcing schools to choose between hosting international students, or protecting the student body from covid.
