They assigned only like 3 soldiers with no hunting experience, one Jeep, and an unlimited number of bullets.
 
Turns out machine guns are great for scaring targets away, not so much for actually hitting them. When the government switched gears and put bounties on the emus instead they actually saved money has farmers and actual hunters had infinitely better success with normal rifles. Also helped solved the problem of farmers not making money from their eaten crops by giving them an alternative source of income, which was the basis of the “war” to begin with.

As it turns out, an unstabilized inter-war machine gun on a shitty jeep will not hit its targets, especially if both parties are on the move.

Mofos run with the speed of olympic sprinters, jump higher than pro ballers, soak up bullets and can kick you unconscious.
 
It took 9k rounds to down 980 of these blokes. And there was 19000 of them left.
 
So the humans pretty much decided the eradication of the birds wasnt worth the effort.

The australians put on an effort to dwindle their number of Emus down, but the amount of money they gonna spend trying to whack them jurassic park cameos was way more than they expected due to how tough they were to kill.
 
Out of the targeted 20k they managed 980 and decided, it would have to do.
 
I think that’s how it went.

Earlier this year, a Texas doctor was fired for giving left over vaccine doses to, and I quote “too many people with Indian sounding names”. He was also told by state prosecutors when he was brought up on thankfully failed charges that he “should have thrown the doses away.
 
Texas is a dumpster fire.
