What makes you think it’s anything but a company responding to what tgheir customers want? That’s a good thing. It used to be that being gay was criminal, now it’s so accepted that major companies are changing their logos to rainbow flags. That’s good, not bad.
Background Pony #CE21
@Meanlucario
The amount of time isn’t what matters, and having unrealistic expectations that a car company should keep it rainbow at all times is silly. Second, why would they even change the flag to appeal to a party that supposedly hates LGBT in the first place?
Sure, they change it for the month because that’s the pride month. They change it back because why would they keep it? It’s objectively a good thing that they are doing it when not too long ago being gay could land you in jail.

Why haven’t Dems come out in full force and at least pretend to give a shit about Trans-Individuals being assaulted by the GOP through ludicrous amounts of legislation targeting them specifically?
Hell even the actual Progressives are dragging their feet on this matter!

Little bit glimpse of the old progressive conlibertarian alliance again. Remember in the late 2000s and early 2010s when even the most die-hard SJW and craziest wingnut would vote together to defend certain civil rights? Good times. Interesting to see this bunch though
Reps. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Chip Roy (R-Texas) voted against the bill.
Hell even the actual Progressives are dragging their feet on this matter!
Because they massively overextended themselves on several fronts and are playing defensive. Also considering how trans activist jumped the gun on the crazy train and often stab their own in the back for being slightly moderate probably doesn’t help united front on these issues, but I doubt many here would be ready to have that conservation.
I would also argue that have gone along with the Democrats in all the wrong areas, say, no vote for medicare for all in rebellion of the Biden administration but managing to get his ear on student loan debt. It is something that may matter to the base but makes them only less popular versus the other way around. I don’t mean they need to moderated but strategize.

Majorie Taylor Greene. I want to smoke some weed before I get into ripping into someone that believes that the GOP is the best party to vote for when they dulge into bad ideas. Today she said something about Satan and abortions.
Oh man I really need some weed after hearing what she said.

First America does have third parties. But they are pass off as silly and not important enough.
Republicans started out as a third party. The Bull Moose Party was a serious contender too but it faded away. Now we have the New Whigs(Yeah pay may them any mind), Green(PROTECT TEH EARTH), and Libertarian(Gary Johnson was a dunce.) MAinly the Green and the Libertarian parties are coming along nicely.
Assuming this is about the federal level in the United States, at the federal (and most state levels) every one of those third parties has to caucus with one of the two majority parties if they want to be assigned an office, get a phone, or be permitted to use the photocopier.
Just to get on the ballot in most counties is nearly impossible if you’re not in one of the two majority parties who - if you didn’t know - are automatically included even if there’s no one running in that party.
And despite all their bravado and the number of people who claim to be members of their party, even the Libertarians only had 4 candidates on at least 5 ballots in 2020. 3,006 counties. 5 of them had Libertarians on the federal ballot.
By comparison, the Green party is kicking their ass, but the distance from where they are to being able to actually change anything at the federal level is inconceivable.
Every time someone from a third party wins - even the Democratic Farm Labor Party, they have to caucus with either the national level Democratic or Republican parties, or they don’t even get a seat at the table.
In order to ever ‘win’, which means gaining the ability to modify the House Rules, Constitution, and Jefferson’s Manual for the House of Representatives, a third party would have to win 218 seats. And the Senate is even more tightly locked down with its rules for participation.
Or, a third party would have to get members of the Democratic and Republican parties to vote against their own self interest and permit third parties to have any kind of power.
At the federal level, the system is owned and controlled by the people in power. And you would literally have to get them to agree to relinquish their power - right down to deciding how big an office their competition gets and who gets the best offices and equipment.
Basically either the Democrat or Republican national parties would have to somehow agree to let a third party have any kind of power at the federal level. And there’s no reason for them to ever do that.
So - vote them out, yes. But voting in one or two third party candidates will never do it. You have to vote in HUNDREDS of them at the same time.
The US system is special. It’s very, very well crafted to keep things exactly as they are, for as long as possible, by old white men who are never ever going to let go of their, or their children’s, privileged lives.
Even the monarchies of old were less securely entrenched than the US 2 party system.

I saw that vote, good on them for sticking with their principals. Some of the other responses were a little concerning in that they immediately jumped to the conclusion those people were sympathetic to Putin. I’ve said it before that I do worry people are going to get so swepped up in this Anti-Russia attitude that they start thinking opposition means siding with Russia. We’re not there yet but my mind always jumps back to Ron Paul when he talked about how US intervention set the stage for 9/11, and how the response was he was blaming America for 9/11.

Leaked draft opinion shows that the at least 5 of the Justices, all Conservative, are gonna vote down the near half century law. Chief Justice Roberts opinion is still up in the air, but even if he votes to preserve it that still leaves it at a 5-4 vote.

This will be interesting The Supreme Court maybe getting ready to overturn Roe v Wade. Pay attention to this bit here though:
The disclosure of Alito’s draft majority opinion – a rare breach of Supreme Court secrecy and tradition around its deliberations – comes as all sides in the abortion debate are girding for the ruling. Speculation about the looming decision has been intense since the December oral arguments indicated a majority was inclined to support the Mississippi law.
Under longstanding court procedures, justices hold preliminary votes on cases shortly after argument and assign a member of the majority to write a draft of the court’s opinion. The draft is often amended in consultation with other justices, and in some cases the justices change their votes altogether, creating the possibility that the current alignment on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization could change.
My side is already grumbling over the court docs being leaked but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the leak originated from the conservative side of the court, testing the waters for backlash. Not a lot of people recall when the Supreme Court turned away 10 gun right cases despite its lean right now. Lots of politics within the court and don’t be surprised if someone might have cold feet and this still doesn’t go through.
EDIT/UPDATE: Barricades supposedly up at the Supreme Court.
HeadlessHorselessHorseman

TvTropes (very left-liberal, but not anarchistic, brocialist, or “tankie”) is freaking out. If anything could create a leftist 1/6, this would be it.
As mentioned above, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Court backpedals (assuming the leak is legit). The Republicans have the high ground going into the midterms (Biden is constrained and somewhat ill-advised, the Democrats have no meaningful party discipline, and a lot of federal justices are Trump appointees), and overplaying their hand could blow it. Apathy and inertia always work to the Republicans’ advantage.
But the barricades around the building really make me wonder if they’ve decided to just go full speed ahead on this one. It’s too early to say.
If any of the justices do flip in the face of backlash though, I’m guessing Kavanaugh’ll be one of them.

This is not the kind of political hot potato that a party wants to play with this close to the midterms.

Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk is of similar opinion. If there ever were a Hail Mary that would break Democrat voter apathy it would be this.
I’m of a skeptical opinion. This should be an easy sell for Dems, but their reluctance to broadcast makes it possible that the voterbase won’t stay fired up the needed 6 months till midterms.
Edit: Oh there’s more. The same document also had Alito criticising the laws allowing gay marriage and anal sex (yes really).
So this isn’t just about abortion but straight up puritanical power play. They aren’t stopping at just a woman’s right to choose.

Like I said during the whole debacle, I’m not opposed to aggressive, even violent reactions. I opposed their reasoning and the wanton destruction of historical landmarks.
I opposed that it was done to overturn a democratically held election and in support of a twice impeached demagogue.
There are nevertheless times when aggressive, even violent tactics, become necessary.
This may not yet be the time, but if they start the wholesale removal of our rights by an unelected court then there may come a time for escalation.

Roe, and several of its subsequent cases were based strongly on the individual right to privacy and freedom from undue burden.
If Roe is overturned it could provide a benchmark for the further erosion of such rights. You want a nanny state? That’s how you get it, by stripping away the fundamental right of privacy.
Porn, sodomy, interracial marriage, contraceptives, alchohol consumption, and private articles of worship are all allowed under laws based on the fundamental right of privacy.

They started eroding our rights to privacy long ago. We have fewer 4th amendment protections in our cars and on the street than we do in our homes. Man, the police sure love their K9 drug dogs who are too eager to please their human handlers who will “alert” on any vehicle or pedestrian, therefore negating the need for a warrant. All of this over a plant, which may or may not be in said vehicle or person.
