Soft science just means it doesn’t produce hard conclusions, not that it’s worth less than hard science.

Eventually we will have hard science for the human mind and sociology, but without soft science we will never get there.

We do have neurophysiology, we can recognize some behavioral and cognitive deficiencies through physical structures themselves. This both supplements and might replace psychology, but those who know psychology will be more quick on the uptake.

A lot of people think they’re cutting edge by only paying attention to STEM, with no respect for the soft sciences and culture that got us to these subjects.

I usually judge people by how they respond to trans people, and womens rights. I know when people are assholes when they want to go out of there way to control other people over matters that don’t involve them.

His advice is hardly groundbreaking, and if you’re anything like me and have a decent father and went to christian camps and groups when you were younger, you’ve already heard his advice. At the same time, I don’t see him as a great white male threat either, because outside of his dad-advice, his beliefs are hardly worth considering given hokey basis.

JP was mostly there at the right place at the right time for a group of people. Particularly anyone who wouldn’t have gone into literary criticism and such and who butter up against also partly reframed as self-help content, or being framed as such. Peterson’s content is mostly just profound to anyone without any foreknowledge of then subject.

Just like a TED talk.

However Jordan Peterson has more or less fallen off the radar and his ban/suspension is probably a good thing, not so much that he was rude to someone online during Pride Month but because he had been previously threatening to quit Twitter but couldn’t bring himself to it.

Trans people in sports is a complicated issue. Trans people are often different, and even superior to their cisgender counterparts. Trans people face a lot of exclusion, and exclusion from sports further damages their mental health.

I got to be honest about the potential superiority of trans people, because if a trans women brutalizes a cisgender women in a combat sport, it’s going to cause a backlash and hatred against the trans community.

Trans people need to use steroids to transition. Steroids are banned in sports, because not only is performance enhancement drugs controversial and dangerous, but if one person uses them, everyone has to. If performance enhancing drugs where legal in sports, trans people and cisgender people could perform on more even grounds, but drug mortality would increase.

Sports for trans people is just not ready, just like prison for trans people. It just sucks, but it’s the truth.
