Ken Akamatsu, creator of Love Hina and Negima, has won his election to become a Japanese legislator.
To liberals, radicalism, be it Islamist or incel or nationalist or whatever, isn’t caused by material conditions and/or circumstances outside the radical’s controls, but by “bad people with evil messages.” Abroad you see this manifest as them [liberals] blaming radical Islamist preachers or even radical Islam itself, and not the fact that the west is blowing the shit out of and mistreating Muslims in their home countries; or the ascendancy of the far-right being caused by “misinformation and dangerous propaganda” on social media and the internet more broadly, and not economic dislocation and the erosion of opportunities felt by people alienated by society. At home you see this manifest as, well, “all Trump supporters are racist, sexist, transphobic, xenophobes,” as if they’re what’s motivating his supporters, and not them suffering under neoliberalism as well.

Even 4chan itself starts to realize how shitty it is:
That’s the problem with alt-right. If you are not explicitly opposed to them, they will infest your spaces and regular people will leave. In the end, you are left surrounded by bigots.
Oh I know it. Just look at this very fandom, particularly on the sites that formed after Derpi tried to ban hate imagery.I checked Ponybooru - a “free speech” alternative to Derpi I found being promoted by one of the more popular pony artists currently boycotting Derpi because of Rule 0 and the attempt to remove Aryanne. Ponybooru’s politics general’s latest hits include:-At least one overt call for violence against left-leaning people.-Widespread use of slurs in the course of conversation - particularly ableist, homophobic, and transphobic varieties.-Cheering on Putin’s “special military operation” against Ukraine, complete with uncritical acceptance of Russian media’s account of things.-Calling Boris Johnson a “conservacuck” and accusing him of letting “millions of Pakistanis” into the UK, as well as some drivel about “rape gangs.”
