I dunno. Giving nukes to a country whose government is arguably more right-wing and fanatically religious than the Russian Federation (at least abortion is unrestricted versus Poland, but that’s hardly an accomplishment) is not exactly a smart move (also, as NATO members don’t they already have nukes anyway?). Furthermore, since Israel and Pakistan aren’t signatories to the NPT, there’s no cap for how many nukes they have nor any checks and balances on them.

For the fourth time, Biden says in “60 Minutes” that the US would defend Taiwan in the case of Chinese invasion.

Pretty clear to me these aren’t “gaffes” but he genuinely believes the bullshit Trump said about China and that the re-opening of diplomatic relations in 1979 was a mistake.

A case could be made that the people wearing it don’t know they’re wearing a I-Can’t-Believe-It’s-Not-Neo-Nazi-Insignia. Most people only know of the swastika after all, and even fewer know it was a religious symbol for millennia before Nazis ruined it (as they do to everything they get).

That’s the point of dogwhistles after all.

Yeah that’s a great idea. Nukes for everyone! Just because MAD has worked out so far doesn’t mean we shouldn’t stress test the philosophy to see where the breaking point it.

Around 50 men, women and children voluntarily boarded buses Friday morning that took them to a ferry to the mainland, where they were transported to Joint Base Cape Cod. Dormitory-style accommodations awaited them there, along with basic necessities, food, health care access and crisis counseling services in their native language.

Up to 125 Massachusetts National Guard members will be activated to assist the group, Baker said.

So an entire community steps up to assist these people, and then they were voluntarily moved to an emergency shelter that has been used in the past to house hurricane survivors and as a COVID-19 field hospital.

You may want to check your understanding of what “pathetic” means, because the only part of the story I’d use that word for is in reference to the feckless Floridian who instigated this particular event.

Nazis have appropriated the following IIRC: the Swastika (which can never have positive connotations in the west ever again, and apparently anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional, at least from what I’ve been told), the ancient Aryan ethnicity, the Celtic Cross, Nordic Runes O and S, the letters S, X, Z, and K, the numbers 1-14, 16, 18, 23, 28, 43, 52, 83, 88, 90, 100, 311, 318, 511, 737, and 1488, the word “proud”, the ≠ symbol, Mjölnir, the Triforce, frogs, the concept of an anthropomorphic crescent moon, the MLP and furry fandoms, white, the Republican party, Chuck Norris, Christianity, the OK hand sign, PewDiePie, Korean laughter, memes, and the very concept of free speech. Imagine a future where all of those things are banned cold turkey because of a few bad apples.

EDIT: Forgot the Chaplin stache and loli/shota/pedo. Not like anyone will miss the latter though.

The stache is a funny story; while toothbrush/lampshade moustache style was already a thing before the 20th century, it caught on in popularity in Europe after WW1, as it was sported by trench veterans as a statement that they’d seen combat that required using a gasmask.

Essentially Hitler’s “silly” moustache was a vain sign of machismo for the time.

They’re not making a profit off this. They’re just spending yours and my tax dollars in cheap political stunts.

In this case, stunts that not only dehumanizes foreigners as just props but also backfires on them when “liberal” communities don’t auto-hate brown people like they do no matter how hard they snort the copium.

And speaking of, Hannity malfunctioned last night when he had Ted Cruz on the air.

They were both following the reich-wing narrative that liberals were just as hypocritical as they are with this trafficking stunt (despite, again, the very first piece of news and every subsequent report from Martha’s Vineyard proving that false) only for Hannity to accidentally ask a line of questions that left Cruz to admit yeah, it is illegal except maybe in some very specific circumstances.

The thing about Biden’s Taiwan comments is that he believes in a pre-Iraq War world (a world he helped destroy with his vote for said war) where the morality of American intervention was unquestionable, the distinction between democracy and autocracy was more clearer (a distinction that countries like Poland, India, Russia, Ukraine (to an extent), Hungary and postwar-Iraq have blurred) and that the Vietnam War was merely an aberration.

Note that he dodged the draft several times. If he actually was in Vietnam he’d have a very different view of his own country (just ask my dead uncle, whose exposure to Agent Orange meant he had to live the last few years of his life unable to communicate with anyone properly).

If actual socialists, Marxists, communists and other non-right-wing extremists or non-centrists should not be viewed as being groups to be socially or even legally excluded from political participation, as seemingly signaled of being tolerated or approved by you and others, then neither should any of the other political groups and stances on the entire spectrum.
