An 11th circuit judge has granted the DOJ’s request to expedite Trump’s special master (no, not Putin. The other one) review. I think they are still trying to get it tossed altogether, but this request does mean that the deadline the special master has to review it is shortened, effectively making Trump’s stall tactic less effective.

So just out of curiosity, now that Elon is being forced to buy Twitter for realsies. What do folks here think the effect will be on Twitter if he takes it 100% private?

Rightwing outlets like Fox News are hailing it as a “Victory for free speech,” though what the far right calls free speech is unsettling, to say the least.

The only thing I know he’ll at least attempt to do is first and foremost reinstate Trump’s account. In his leaked texts he expressed his desire to appoint a “Blake Masters type” into a leadership position to manage the site. Blake Masters, for those not in the know, is the Trumpist nominee for Arizona Senate and a close ally of fascist billionaire Peter Thiel.

There’s concern among my leftist and queer circles he will attempt a wholesale purge of them both while giving special protections to rightwing hate accounts like Libs of Tiktok. Even if he doesn’t do the former, all he really needs to do to get rid of us is the latter.

Posting the image of him with Ghislaine Maxwell, his derpfaced teenager photos, etc would all result in insta-permaban.

Here’s the problem: the people who are on Twitter, the people who drive traffic to Twitter, don’t want it to be a “freeze peach” thunderdome. If former President @BarackObama wanted to dwell among 4chan shitposters, he would be on 4chan. And if Elon turns Twitter into 4chan, the users will seek refuge elsewhere. They might even make Facebook cool again (NB: this is impossible). This whole deal has big “Tumblr porn ban” vibes.

Which ideologies will be banned (in Europe where laws are in force) or shunned (especially in the US) like Nazism after World War II, after Putin loses the war or is deposed?

Would they be Putinism proper, or will it be extended to Trumpism, populism, or patsoc communism?

Yes and like what happened to Tumblr, if artists feel unwelcome on Twitter, where will they go? They could go to Newgrounds but that didn’t seem to gain traction as an alternative art site.
