Video Game General 2: Definitive/Remastered Edition

If there’s one thing I’d like to see in a JRPG game, it’s a very short length. Not every story needs 90 hours to be told. Not every game has to have repetitive dialogue that makes a scene much longer.

Because, if your game has that many hours for the main story, it’s possible that your story has some filler and unnecessary scenes that you left there because “a JRPG game has to last forever”, because it wouldn’t feel like a JRPG game otherwise.

That said, I enjoyed games such as Persona 5, because, even though I’m not a huge fan of the story, it has likeable characters, it’s not hard and it doesn’t punish you for playing.

And then there’s Undertale, Earthbound, Dark Souls, Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne and Dark Souls III.

Not at all, they’re wonderful JRPGs.

And yes, Undertale is a JRPG. It has a turn based system, it has systems related to attack and defense, it has random encounters, it has an options menu that’s completely similar to Earthbound, and, now that I mention it, it’s fully inspired by the SNES game, which is fantastic.

Speaking of good JRPGs, I need to finish Lost Odyssey.

Undertale is a WRPG. It has that battle system because Toby Fox wanted a battle system to be like the JRPGs that he played.

It’s like comparing Old Fallouts to the Newer Fallouts. Both have different battle systems.

I’m well aware, but most do.

I played through Dark Descent again, this time with a remastered mod.
The monsters are used so infrequently I can count the amount of times you’re forced to hide on one hand, and the game is better for it.

Ark Survival Evolved is free-to-own on Steam this week.

That’s how much it says on the steam downloader.

Yeah and it says 125 gigs on mine.

But that’s absurd regardless. FO 4 is like 35 gigs. What kind of bloat does Ark have?

It’s for your multiple bot accounts for resource farming. If you thought TF2 had a bot problem, than you’re in for a sad realization.
