I’d honestly rather Fallout “scale down” massively to FO1/2 levels; small settlements, large areas of “nothing”, and maybe even civilization starting over with new construction instead of everything being trailer parks and containers and half burnt down houses.

Anyone else get the feeling that Kojima’s a bit of a prima donna?

I’m playing Fallout 2. I rather not the newer games revert back to them, partly due to how 1 and 2 discourage exploration and fun.

I mean, maybe take some cues in overall plot and/or themes, but yeah a hard capitol N “NO” on returning to most gameplay designs or character progression.

I know Konami’s awful, but I can’t help but think that Kojima’s own behavior also contributed to Phantom Pain’s dumpster fire production.

Judging by the awful working conditions that came as a result of the Kojima fallout, and the fact that most of KojiPro’s staff went with him when he left, not to mention he’s been stuck making games for the same franchise for the better part of the decade, I think he’s just happy to be working on something new for a change.
 
In regards to Phantom Pain, I’m pretty sure the end product would have been better had he actually gotten to finish it(like the Mission 51), I’m like, 90% the game was supposed to end with a bridge to Metal Gear 1

I wouldn’t want to go back to the s2s gameplay of FO1/2, but I just really didn’t like the constant bombed-out city themes of F03/4.

Considering Konami’s literally orwellian working conditions, I wouldn’t really place much if any blame on kojima.

Seeing as Fallout is a post-apocalypse world destroyed by nukes, I don’t see how that is avoidable. I’m sure than Fallout 1 and 2 would had have them if their travelling system was more like current Fallout’s.

Sure, but the scenery in FO3/4 is just boring. It’s been over 200 years since the bombs and everything still looks like it was just a few years after.

Still more fun to look at than 1/2’s map or NV’s scenery.

I’m not saying to back to those specifically, but the world felt a lot less like Detroit a giant landfill.

FO3 scenery really nailed the 200 years of time that passed after the bombing. For FO4… Well, it didnt. For some reason, Bethesda decided to create props and houses that were so intact, the entire place looks like Detroit.
 
Of course, there is a reason for this and it is explained in the game.

Helps that the radiation caused by said bombs would discourage people from rebuilding, as well as raiders who just want to shoot and loot and super mutants kidnapping everyone to make more super mutants would slow down reconstruction.

If you are talking about the Commonwealth, the apparent reason for how shitty it is was because The Institute was using it as an entire test proyect zone, much like Old World Blues’s Big MT.

3 was set on the area most heavily bombed, and 4 has the rad storms constantly preventing greenery from regrowing.

Levels 6-10 Zote sucked so much
