Harsh reality: Not everyone can be the main star. That’s why you build the card in such a way that each match adds something to hype the main event.
Not all PPV’s are gonna have a constant 5 star match, even New Japan doesn’t. Those are called Breather Matches and are meant to let the people rest and get their momentum back, much like a rollercoaster; where you have your slow peak where the hype is built, then the fast descend where the emotion and adrenaline kick in, then you go to another peak and then another descent.
Best example of this was Cena vs Styles at last year’s rumble. Damn good, but not so much it tires the crowd and the result makes it all the more exciting to see who wins the rumble
How NOT to do it is how they did this year. After the male Rumble it took a lot of time before the crowd got pumped again to the point where they were dead for the remainder of the PPV, I’ve even say a good chunk of the female rumble
