It’s the artistic version of sampling music, it’s literally not a big deal.

That’s between TPDNE and the artists, we are not involved, it is not our business to police how people use images they download from us. And it’s most likely Fair Use anyways, by the way.

Derpibooru is an imageboard that allows you to download any image you find here. What you will do with image after that is not related to DB at all. It’s like saying that Bandcamp is responsible for music piracy because people download songs from there and then are using them without permission.

They should use only secondary characters,background ponies or OCs. Since most of the pics they use are from the Mane 6 a lot of the generated ponies look like the Mane 6

Yeah, I agree their dataset need some refinement. Main problem is that the more you cut stuff out of the dataset, the more generally imprecise the result become. And since training tend to be hella long, trial and error is really costly …  
This could definitively give even better results, but I’m not sure if the creator is that motivated about it or if it was just a “eh guys, look at the cool thing I made this weekend”-kind of situation.

Who cares? Those images are used to train an algorithm. Getting upset over it is like getting upset over someone who tries to draw as close as possible to somebody else’s art style. If you really want to try and litigate over this, go right ahead. There’s a really good reason record labels and major artists haven’t tried to litigate over training AI using their works yet, and that’s because they do not want to set legal precedent that could screw them over as neural networking advances.

Also YOU are cropping every image when you scroll your browser window! Part of the image becomes not visible! Is it OK for you to do it? Dont think so.
