No not every image related to FIM would need to have the “g4” tag added, and no, fanfics shouldn’t have a “generation” tag added to them, or have a new one made up specifically for them.

So far about 35% into coding, ETA is 1-3 days from this post.

The method by which we’ve decided to combat CP is approval queue for images, as well as some comments/posts/PMs that contain externally-embedded images. Almost all existing users will be exempt from it, which means their stuff will bypass the queues. Verification will be granted to some users after they’ve uploaded certain amount of approved images, which will let them upload without needing approval in the future.

The system is designed to not be an inconvenience to legit users. We’re not going the E621 route with arbitraty “quality” standards, all that the approval queue would check for are blatant violations of Rule #5 and #3.

Could something similar be implemented to forum posting? I just reported a spammer account that was dormant for three months before it started posting junk. A minor five-minute inconvenience to new users, but it would cut spam forum posts to practically zero.

Not sure where to ask this, but >>2832381 is the first image in a set (alphabetically by filename at least) and at least two other images in the set are returned as being identical, presumably due to everything being either the same Fallout New Vegas(?) screenshot or just red. What do I do here?

Also, translation for the image(s) would be appreciated.

EDIT: Check here for the album, though it seems to be missing two images (In front of a sun and with bat wings), they’re not in the “all images” section either, however, they’re on the wall here if you want to check them out. I didn’t see any more besides those 11.

Hello again, same topic - I’ve got a report sitting open for 8 days. This time, I added this note to the explanation:

“If this report looks like it will take a while to resolve, please go ahead and close it early. I don’t need to know when it’s resolved, only that staff has become aware of it to look into at some time or another.”

So, it seems like either you’re the only staff member who’s adopted that practice, or nobody’s even bothered to look at that kind of report for this long?

Sorry to bother you again, but I was wondering something about the Artist Links. I know it says to link to a artist name, but if the link is specifically to a comic (a la Tumblr), can you link the comic name to your profile/link instead? I noticed you seem to be able to put any tag in that box, so I wondered how far that could go, or if it was explicitly for artist names only.

Sorry for bothering you again, but it’s been two weeks and I haven’t had a reply. I know more serious things are going on, but this should be a quick yes/no. Sorry again.

You’re asking about an edge use case, so there is no simple yes/no answer. Verified links convey copyright in our processes. What you are proposing does not work with our processes unless the comic is itself a legal artifact such as a registered trademark or something like that so the only answer we can give without seeing what you are trying to do is “maybe”. Please submit the link you are proposing and someone on staff will have to research it. Maybe there is a precedent for what you are asking for, or some other way to achieve the same thing such as with a description on the tag itself.

I guess i’m in the right place to ask this so…

How much are you guys keeping up with EU and US legislation like the EUCD Implementation across member nations, the floating around EARN IT ACT, the “at risk of being slipping into a must pass spending bill” SMART ACT, and the ongoing Digital Services Act which just had a major development take place?

You folks are EU based but you have a fair amount of US members in your ranks if i’m correct…

In what way do you believe that either of those would, in any way, impact this site?

Personally, I don’t see anything that matters until it becomes a law, but even if they did, as far as I can see from the proposals this site is either entirely out of scope, or already compliant.

So I’m curious what you see that causes you to think that either of them, much less the US stuff, would hav any impact to this site?

Whatever you do, make sure you tag every image properly before hitting Upload. It’s easy for you to copy-paste* the relevant common set of tags to every image (and then add image-specific tags), but it will take eons for others to fix afterwards.

And please do not create single-use tags. No one else has access to those images, you can spend 30 minutes researching and finding every relevant and correct tag in advance, without having to fear someone else sniping your uploads.

*) if you temporarily turn off the fancy tag editor, then the tag list is just text that can be copy-pasted
