Tag edits would be way harder to monitor for abuse, one could easily add and remove a bunch of tags on images to farm points. Even if there’s some solution to that problem, it should really be 1 point for every 100 tag changes or something. Main way to earn points should still be uploads, since images are what this site’s all about.

Vast majority is images that are publicly available elsewhere, nothing is stopping anyone from finding art to upload. (If you want to be devious, go to the pages of artists that others are posting all their art of, and (assuming they are going through the art chronologically) start posting from the other end).

I am talking about extremely basic tags like “pony” on a picture of a pony, “solo” on a picture of one character, or “edited screencap” that are critical for people to find or avoid content.
Or outright misspelled/typo’d artist names.
Or the wrong sex on NSFW posts.

You are familiar with site rules #2 and #4? Filtering does not work without tagging. The fundamental operation of the site hinges on it.
Yeah, of course it’d be hard to verify the quality and correctness of it. But, go spend some time in a room with people who have “anthro” in their filters, and then come back and tell me again that it’s worth 1/1000 of an upload.

I think you misunderstand my point. Yes, giving points for tagging would make people put in more effort into tagging and solve the current problem of bare minimum tagging. But using the incentive of points for this runs the risk of people abusing it because they take the competition of the event way too seriously, which is why it isn’t some perfect solution to the problem.

100 per point might be a bit harsh, but i’d rather they undershoot than overshoot. As long as it gives any points people would do it for the points, just like they already do for nothing (or a badge)

I’ve spent all day uploading a single artist. If you find the right one, you are set for awhile. OCs especially are neglected in uploads.

Do you mind if people add a duplicate report to an image that already has an Automated Perceptual dedupe match?
Or does it give you more confidence that the report is valid when a sapient creature of some sort has checked over the image and also reported it as a duplicate?

I don’t think it particularly matters that much if you do or don’t. Sometimes people can get it wrong more than automation can tho. I don’t think it’s a big deal tho.
