The Derpibooru Patreon page will be suspended shortly, and in the future will be converted to an artist page for the creation of vector works (much like the ones used for badges or spoiler images) and no longer be used to fund Derpibooru. Those that are supporting through Patreon to fund the site and have no interest in vector artwork should cancel their pledges inside the next month.
SubscribeStar and Pixiv Fanbox pages already set up, and further alternatives are being looked into. (SubscribeStar is not yet active due to a flood of new users). Pixiv Fanbox is based in Japan so uses Yen as its currency, but unlike SubscribeStar supports transactions through Paypal with automatic conversion.
For those not in the know, since April of last year Patreon has moved against any non-vanilla NSFW work, with all anime related artwork banned earlier this year. Just this week, we learned that they’ve started asserting ownership of artists’ work and activities outside of Patreon. Soon after, they demanded Derpibooru be “cleaned” of a vast amount of content, including relatively innocuous themes and plenty of safe-rated content; and we have no interest in complying with such content purges at the behest of companies leveraging their positions for misguided moral crusades.
We recommend any artist using Patreon that’s drawn NSFW art or written NSFW stories, regardless of if it was ever hosted on or supported by their Patreon, look into using alternatives as soon as possible.
