Do you think that any of the artists that DNP will return?

I’ll admit, I got zealous when the whole debate was raging. Now I’m using six different sites to look at fan art. I’m pretty mentally exhausted from everything and this debate has spilled over into everyday conversations for me. I really hope we can get everyone’s art back on here.

I find discussion to be a part of the experience. But out of curiosity, would you happen to know what the delay on post updates between the various boorus?

The ones currently throwing a tantrum because they couldn’t censor people will be back once Twitter tells them the next thing to be outraged about and there is no more social capital to be had by avoiding derpi.

Yes yes, they all just happened to become outraged about things that had been around for years, all at the same time, five minutes after some blogger vomited out some rage-bait. All coincidentally.

it is more likely something they were upset about, but no one voiced, and once a voice was brought up, it was then amplified significantly by people who had been upset, but didn’t want to be the initial voice.

The “problem” was dying out on it own. The initial voice was a troll which was confirmed.

oh yes, but you see, WHERE or who the voice came from didn’t matter. It was the fact it was said and that a platform had been given that let people speak out. The fact the person was a TROLL and being a joker, doesn’t matter, it was the fact something was voiced.

Because the person who was doing it was clearly doing it to manipulate for the sole sake of causing destruction.
 
Filtering existed. There was never an actual Nazi problem in the community. And the character had been slowly dying out over the years.
 
Everyone who up and left because the character was allowed to stay was doing it for the good boy points and so they could pretend to be good people by taking a public hardline stance on something the vast majority of people already have a normal stance on.

I had a fight myself about the character a bit lately.  
No I don’t like a lot of her art, yes she is a parody/satire character. Yes it is in bad taste and can be offensive. No I am not forcing anyone to like her art at all. Should she be allowed to exist however? Yes of course, because she is a means of which people can express themselves, and means of mocking the people she is a parody of. Just because almost no one laughs, does not mean something is not a joke.  
No I am not pro Nazi, honestly the Nazi’s would kill me faster than most of you most likely.  
Do I like some of her work? Yes actually. Because some of the art is not only funny, some of it is even showing a sort of redemption arc or growth for the character. She also paved the way for other characters mocking Government’s and organizations to rise up.
 
Also lets be honest here..  
Racism, specieism, Communisum, capitalisum, democracy, and Monarchy are all quite visible and apparent in some sort of degree all over not only the back story and plot of MLP friendship is magic, but many times even highlighted for the point of teaching a lesson. I would not have been shocked, AT ALL, to see full on Nazism show up in some form. Hell maybe it did and I just missed the episode.
 
But back to the main topic at hand… before we go further off the rails and get this thread closed by mods…. My main wonder if artists will come back, has to do with how well the other art pages do or how well the get traction. Again most of, if not all, of my fave artists are still here and still posting stuff. There is nothing preventing these artists from returning later on if they want to. I think some of them probably will eventually.

They absolutely will. Once the ass-pats for leaving derpi fade away because there’s a new thing they’re told to be outraged about, they’ll quietly just show back up.

The damage has been done. It probably would’ve been better if Derpibooru had not done anything and let people forget about what they’re mad about.

The difference is that mlp tries to do it’s due diligence to present those issues in a somewhat serious light, meanwhile we got Aryanne weirdos drawing porn of her.
 
Until the people on this website give up the “pro/anti Nazi” or “pro/anti free speech” shit, with each side pretending they’re arguing in good faith when they clearly are not, I hope no artist returns. Someone can be uncomfortable with Nazi imagery and the threat of Nazi festering in their community in any form without being some SJW Boogeyman from twitter, and someone can enjoy or make Aryanne art with being a Nazi or supremacist from 4chan, but the first person has to be careful how they word their arguements and conceptualize their ideas lest they stray into actual censorship, and the latter person needs to be careful with their art and realize the impact even the smallest silliest piece of media can have on someone.  
Sorry, I know a lot of that was off topic, but I’m trying to get across that I think most artists will return not when the sites policy agrees with their views but when the userbase can have a productive conversation about this issue, for once. Why would artists care about a constantly bickering and petty community? They can go pretty much anywhere else on the internet for that.  
EDIT: another part of disingenuity contributing to this is the slippery slope arguements, again prevalent in both sides (“if we ban this what won’t we ban/if we allow this what won’t we allow”)

An observation of mine in fact was that a lot of the ones from twitter (though not all who wanted were from there, some were longstanding here too) were demanding more than just Nazis while there was a lot of users who felt uncomfortable with Nazis but also censorship and those voices had less of an opportunity to even make up their minds such an debate heavy environment.

It depends on the integrity of the website. The impact of the DNPers on either end ain’t nothing but most artist didn’t DNP. As long as the site maintains a stable and clear direction it’ll probably be okay and some will return. Though with potential issues with funding and the lack of credibility the leadership for both sides I can’t say for certain we’ve turned the corner.

I am really glad you stuck around, I liked talking to you and enjoy your art.  
I hope life stops gut punching you for a while.. though the feeling is VERY well known.  
Personally the worst part about all of this, and yes it has to do with alot of bad stuff.. is also the timing of it all. We are in a period where people are being forced to stay home and do as little as possible. NOW is about the best time to potentially see some AMAZING art work, and see alot of Commisions being finished and possibly posted. I can’t help but wonder what super cool art I haven’t seen because artists got scared off during a time period where they have almost nothing to do BUT draw, and amidst all the death and human stupidity… Artists are such a vital life line to sanity…
