I thought it was a pretty serious suggestion. How precisely does it not qualify? If you mean “It’s not a site feature to talk about restricting some content,” I’m happy to take the suggestion to whatever forum other than “Site and Policy” that it applies to. It doesn’t seem to be Art Chat, Episode Discussion, Fanfiction or Roleplaying, and none of the other sticky threads here are about such suggestions.
 
If I make a SurveyMonkey poll can I post an image to the booru directing people there with any chance that the mods will take the results seriously?

Very few original characters are distinct enough to pass the nichols vs universal standard for legal protection. Even in the case of those that do, without specific contact from the creator of the character - who was not faust - there are no more legal grounds for removing or censoring images of ocs than for any other character.
 
In future, if you wish to discuss this or similar issues, create a new thread in the site and policy board.

I wasn’t proposing that there was a legal mandate to do so. I was proposing that there was a moral mandate to do so. Legally, there is neither a mandate nor a prohibition on the moderators of a forum setting whatever content rules they please (e.g., “pony-related”). I will start a new thread later today.

So according to this comment, the “male” and “female” tags are really under used. This may be an awful suggestion, but why not make it a requirement that uploads with any tags for characters (oc or canonical ones) must contain at least one “male”/“female”/“futa”/etc tag?
 
I mean most of the time if you can identify a character, you can probably at least guess it’s physical sex. And failing that, could just make it a rule that you should fall back on the character’s canonical sex (or maybe just have an “ambiguous sex” tag?).

Gender for an image can be implied based on the character and the inclusion of certain tags such as rule 63. For example, Applejack without rule 63 implies female, Pinkie Pie female, Rarity male etc..

It makes sense in the context of the thread he’s referencing, though, vis-à-vis: porn. People who only want to see certain kinds of lewd images are more likely to yell about having the wrong ones intrude on their happy fun time.

The “solo female” and “solo male” tags are supposed to be used only on lewd images containing one character, and they’re a lot more heavily used than the “female” and “male” tags are.

I would love to see both gender and race tagging be a thing, though that may have to wait till its easier to see and remove implied tags. Those tags are really important for browsing for inspiration or references.
 
I’m a fan of e621s system of tagging everything though.

Yeah, I was hoping that if the “male”/“female”/etc tags were used more often then we could move away from using those tags. So “solo female” would just be “solo, female, -safe”…

Well, but don’t we already have this level of craziness? I mean, the “solo male”/“solo female”/etc tags already exist. Some people already rely on them for filtering, and their usage is already firmly established by the tagging guidelines. I’m just thinking, instead of having “solo”, “solo female”, “female”, and all the non-safe system rating tags, we encourage users to use the more general tags “solo” + “female” + not-safe, rather than remembering the very particular “solo female” tag.
 
Tho, if you want to hear a really crazy feature idea:  
We could slightly broaden TSP’s suggestion for “sub-tags” to include character’s physical sex. So we’d have things like “Twilight Sparkle (male)”. Then, not only would we have a very finely grained method of searching particular characters with particular sexes, but we also could make most tags like “male”/“female”/“futa”/etc just syntactic sugar for “*(male)*”/”*(female)*”/”*(futa)*”/etc. Tags like “R63” could then be automatically implied by these tags. And other tags like “Dusk Shine” would just be aliases…
 
Of course, it’s possible that users would just ignore these new sub-tags, so you might have to encourage their use somehow.
 
I also have no idea just how far you want to take this whole sub-tagging idea… this might just add even more complication to an already complex situation.
 
Tho if your final answer is “no, sex-tagging is too much of a hassle” then I’ll just drop the idea(s)…

How about if we added a field for art into the tagging quicklist? I made one quick example how it could look like.  

 
I probably missed a lot of important tags that could be included in there. But I think it would be important to include different fields like Style, Tone, Type, Background ect.
 
Animated, Vector and Screencape probably should go to type, instead of style. ^^

When I spoiler the game there is only Celestia with “Tag Hidden”

Suggestion for the upload page.  
Under the tag box, in that area that lists often forgotten tags and users can click to add various spoiler tags and such, there should be a tab for comic spoilers.

Perhaps there should also be a way to link your FiM Fiction/other fanfiction site account to your profile, much in the way that an artist can (provided that you do create pony content, obviously). You really wouldn’t have to change the interface of the artist linking system that much, and there’d be more representation of the other content creators in the fandom. You’d probably need a different badge, though…

I suggested that idea in the badge thread a while ago, but no one ever replied :-(

I see that public ban history is on the list of stuff that you’re not doing. How are users supposed to know if somebody they are trying to communicate with still has access to functions on the site? Almost every other image board in existence (e621, 20PC, DA, etc.) tells users if the profile they are looking at is currently banned without giving any specific details. Why should that be any different here?
