Anyone says it’s about right vs left wing is making a very big mistake. It’s not even on the same axis.  
It’s authoritarian (pro-censorship) versus libertarian (anti-censorship).
 
Horseshoe theory means both far-left and far-right are authoritarian and share the methods, but right now we’re having an issue with “far-left” authoritarians.

If dumb shit like ACAB and mouthpieces were being banned, I’d be right there with them calling it unfair. I may have a distaste for those two, but the freedom of the artist.to be able to draw.it in the first place is something I support unconditionally.

I largely – largely – agree with this, with the exception of low effort photoshops etc. Writing “ACAB” and pasting a pre-existing vector of your favorite pony is imo off topic (rule 6 rather than rule 0). Drawing your favorite pony saying “ACAB” I would defend even though I strongly disagree with the sentiment.

This. The anti-censorship thread attracted people with varying political beliefs, from ancaps, to conservatives, liberals, socialists, libertarians, to even communitsts and anarchists. Freedom of expression has no strict political alliance.

The thing is, this has been playing out in a whole bunch of spheres before it came here. Freedom of expression has been under attack by the radical totalitarian left for about fifteen years now, in gaming, comic books, movies, and general discourse (cancel culture). Before that, it was the moralizing right in the form of blasphemy laws, moral virtue guidelines etc. A full-blooded defense from liberal-minded people, regardless of their politics, will be needed to stop it dead.

This will never happen. As long as “freedom of expression” hard-liners associate themselves with Nazis, the KKK and other extreme white supremacy movements, it’s not going to garner any significant support from the left and progressives. You all would be saying the exact same thing if a group of Islamic extremists decided to enter the pony fandom and started making tons of ISIS memes and videos of white christians being executed, mutilated and abused in various ways.

In general, totalitarians have always taken to attempting to ban things they dislike. I certainly recall religious fundamentalists constantly trying to ban things they found offensive through much of my childhood. I don’t think a lot of the people calling for the recent censorship on derpibooru realize how much they sound like those fundies that seemed to be everywhere in the 2000s.

I despise all Nazi imagery and similar content. The fact is that it does cause harm, and anyone who tries to tell me it’s acceptable loses any respect I might have had for them. I’m extremely disappointed in the number of people on this site who are okay with that vile garbage and the fact that those running the site are too spineless to stand on the right side of history.

These are islamic themed drawings made by white people. I’m talking about a huge brigade of hundreds of isis members coming in and flooding the archive with various images of racial hatred against white people. I can guarantee you wouldn’t be saying “I stand with the ISIS guy!! Let’s feature his stuff here alongside our own!”

And now you’re basically implying that everyone who draws Aryanne is an actual Nazi. We do not have a huge brigade of Nazis flooding the archive with racial hatred against anyone, we have people drawing a pony who is a Nazi. Some of those depictions are jokes at her expense, some are jokes at others’ expense, and some are just fetish porn for people who get off to hot dominant mares. The vast majority of Aryanne art is not trying to tell you how great being a Nazi is.
 
To draw a comparison, in South Park we have Cartman. Cartman is a) very racist, b) very blunt, and c) a protagonist who you are supposed to have some degree of empathy for. In Family Guy, you have Quagmire who is a massive lowlife, a sex pest, etc but again, you’re supposed to like him. He’s not an antagonist.
 
The people who wrote Cartman (and many others) in South Park, Quagmire in Family Guy, and a huge number of other protagonists with very problematic views are not assumed to share, endorse, or support those views, so why are people who draw Aryanne, even in a way that you might like her, assumed to be Nazis?

Why even bother posting in a forum if you don’t want to discuss? Do you know what forums are for? You simply say these images cause harm, without providing a lick of evidence. If you want to claim it causes harm, provide proof beyond just making that claim.

Stop moving the goalposts. I don’t care what ISIS posts, because I have a strong enough mind to oppose extremism. The fact that you are claiming the only way I can ever hold an opinion without being a hypocrite is to do something that is indeed extreme proves nothing beyond the fact that you are an extremist. Do you think that’s a normal thing to do? Pester people constantly over your personal opinions in public? That’s pretty damn annoying.
