This is very true, I seen them try to attack artist for just disagreeing with them or just blocking them for just having a bit of a different view on the way to handle a situation. Even if they agree with them before hand.  
I wouldn’t speak against them unless I’m left anonymous as I’m afraid of mob mentality.

Have you thought shit like that might, I don’t know, provoke backlash? I mean, you yourself have only called the ‘left’ - which I’m sure encompasses FAR more ideologies than those on the left - all manner of things and seem to have a strong bias. I don’t believe any of this is about ‘freedom of speech’, its only one side’s ‘speech’ that you lot EVER defend.

I’m not a big fan of shock humor either. But I personally don’t like how they handle this situation either as they attack people with different ideas and ways of thinking.
 
To be honest I really don’t know. I just know that these tactics the totalitarian left uses are more likely to cause people to double down and draw in people that are Nazis and/or racist to try and recruit them into their ranks. I don’t know how many Nazis where here before but this whole situation might of made it worse. But we will never really know if it is worse.

I think if your first reaction to being made uncomfortable by a piece of art is to light your torch and ready your pitchfork, you probably lack maturity to be honest. And yes, recently it’s been the left which has been obsessed with censorship and cancelling people. A few years ago it was the right. Authoritarians on both sides need to be answered by everyone liberal-minded whenever they pop up to tell the painter not to paint or the writer not to write.
 
If the radical right start coming on here and demanding that you can’t draw BLM or antifa ponies, I’ll be right here defending you too.

I honestly can’t imagine that many unironic Nazis exist in a fandom about tolerance and acceptance of other cultures, they got BTFO’d as hard as the tankies did by the actual canon. The Zecora episode and the entire Neighsay/non-ponies arc is essentially a fuck you to racial supremacists in the same way that Starlight and equality was a fuck you to Maoism. The writers are pretty based when it comes to dealing with totalitarian ideologies.

Why I personally think it was a small amount. But you can never really know. The fandom is mainly built on tolerance yes but you’ll get a few that have a different mine set no matter what. I don’t know they were blown away like you think. Most likely they are just in the shadows now where we can’t see them. Which is bad because light is the best disinfected if done right.

What I mean is, generally people will be attracted to shows and characters that validate their ideologies. “Racism” as depicted in Equestria has always turned out to be wrong, whether it’s Zecora, the yaks, or the Chancellor who wants a ponies-only school, to be a racist fan of MLP you would really have to sit and suffer through your ideas being transparently deconstructed by the characters you love. It would be a jarring experience, I’d imagine. I guess it’s possible they would join the fandom but not watch the show, though.
 
I’ve been in the fandom about 8 years and I can’t remember a time at which overt racism has ever been more than an insignificant proportion of the fans, the art, or anything else fandom-related. Edgy memes and porn, though, have been there since day 1, mostly due to 4chan roots.

I blame the furries for the porn mainly. But yeah 4chan did make edgy humor day one sense bronies started in 4chan.
 
I think the same think it would be really hard for a brony to be a racist if they watched the show. But it might be outside factors as well that cause them to think that way. Mlp has always been a escape from reality for some people. It might bring the same for them I guess. It’s weird but I wouldn’t be able to explain it.

My sentiments exactly. Milquetoast fencesitting on such a broad issue isn’t going to fix this problem. The problem being that there’s this thing called “Freedom of Expression” that would be violated by censoring anything that isn’t a literal shitpost made to rile people up. (And i admit, even THAT is a very broad and general term, as anyone could brand anything they disagree with or dislike as a shitpost…so…)
 
What the website owner and the moderation team should be concerned about is where the money to keep the site running is coming from, and let me tell you, it’s not coming from the twitterite church of wokeistani people who only made accounts and artist pseudonyms to put themselves on and thus inflate the DNP list. The current ruleset worked for nearly a decade, keep it that way, and ignore the moaning and groaning of the cancel culturists on twitter and some noname news website (Hello Index Hungary, and TheAtlantic!) Personal politics should NOT apply to an art repository (Aka a Booru)

Though I’ve seen the argument made that people with a furry background were the ones that planted the seed you had that split exist right from the birth of the fandom when Ponychan, the nicer softer anti porn chan and FiMchan, the clop and artist hangout chan, were briefly some of the main gathering places of the fandom in the early strife. Both were founded by posters from /mlpg/.

There were some further right forces that considered the show better due to the relatively traditional moral order within it but most right wing forces were pretty hostile. In later years I’ve seen our fandom often be streotyped as a component of one side or the other, usually by the opposite side in a negative light. I would find examples but I don’t want to derail the thread.

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one’s time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.  

I am afraid that since this image >>2396053 being featured, people will be confused about the whole ordeal.  
Add to the fact that people are trained since birth to think “nazis = bad” like Pavlovian dogs AND the fact that this whole shit is not even about nazis but about administartion being disjointed, biased and incompetent AND we will have people who will see this whole kerfuffle and will understand it wrongly.
