Actual recap: site staff went full SJW, banned negative reactions to BLM stuff, throttled users’ connections (they say it’s only been two ban-evaders but there are more than two reports of people having unexplained slowdowns at that time, including right after getting shadowbanned for downvoting BLM), after two weeks and ragticle about brownie nutsees in the Atlantic staff followed up by going back on their years-long stance and banned “hateful ideologies” and specifically Aryanne and Nazism while making excuses for all the other ideologies with massive bodycounts, many users saw the trend and organised a resistance against censorship, after five days of discussion a new administrator, Parasprite, came up going “no censorship”, people on Twitter - many of which don’t even use the site or don’t even draw - WENT ABSOLUTELY RABID AND THREW A COLOSSAL TEMPER TANTRUM, trying to cancel Derpi’s patreon account and GDPR Philomena, after seven hours and seven minutes a different, old admin got all gingered up and went “ALL THE CENSORSHIP”, predictably it pissed off everyone, a clout goblin who has caused aforementioned ragticle doxxed someone in the announcement thread and got banned and ostracized, one of site assistants whistleblowed in their resignation post with admission about aforementioned throttling, users organized a mob, Parasprite came online again and managed to regulate things and, in the process, earn 4chan’s respect, the gingermin did wordswordswords in discord, refused to come here, but did agree to defer to Parasprite for once, all was calm for like half a day, then a whole lot of screencaps of the Twitter crowd organizing wrongthink lists and planning a coup came up, said Twitter crowd got absolutely fucking busted, and all became calm again.
 
And yes. The crowd that attempts to silence dissent, shames and strongarms people into toeing the line, tries to control what others are allowed to do, uses underhanded methods from the get-go and throws giant toddler tantrums when things don’t go their way, is also the very same people that are calling Derpibooru and its users “nazis”, “bigots”, “bootlickers”, and more. Also, in a fit of “told you so”, they’ve moved on to trying to ban foalcon now.

Note that it wasn’t purely “BLM” art that was downvoted to hell and back, but specifically aggressive, vitriol-filled BLM/ACAB propaganda. Non-propaganda has a lot fewer downvotes. Also I don’t think your tl;dr version is accurate so I’ve tried to condense my wall of text above and provide my own tl;dr:
 
Derpibooru staff disengage from the site and spend most of their time on Twitter and Discord -> the Floyd protests, and associated art posting, start -> staff think it’s a good idea to publicly align the site with BLM and, after a bit, start censoring negative feedback on said propaganda -> whoiswooteven goes to Atlantic, which forces staff’s hand to ban “failing to bash nazism” (but not communism, radical islam, etc…) -> actual site users get PISSED about staff clearly bending to literallywhos and no-attention-span twitter SJWs -> a revolution -> twitter SJWs refuse to take Derpi denying them in stride, issue takedowns on their art here and try to smear the site -> they get repelled anyway -> they move on as expected.
 
Yes, it’s still fucking huge. And yeah, they keep trying to equate “not bending to bullying” with “supporting nazism” and other blatant attempts at slander, don’t take the bait.

Yeah, pretty much entire debacle is because of how Twitter is an automatic extremist/cult generator.
 
The anti-nazi thread’s been started by them, if you can stomach their paragraphs of text about how we’re all nazis and how they can’t handle being on a same site with nazis and how being near (people they’ve designated as) nazis makes them feel UNSAFE and UNCOMFORTABLE therefore all (people they’ve designated as) nazis and (content they’ve designated as) nazist must be banned*, it’s all there.
 
 
*Well, technically, that was a rant on twatter. I hope someone told Rick to get off of twitter because it makes him a dick, and then lets him limit people he converses with to other dicks and hence loops the dickery around like it’s a sky-damn dick collider designed to create the ultimate asshole.

I’m going to stand with derpibooru and keep supporting whatever happens. Derpibooru as an archive has too much value to be used as cannon fodder for people to express their beliefs. Even if it’s now forced to leave a neutral state and things cannot fully go back to what it was, I don’t think we should give up on it so easily. Doesn’t matter which side wins, we’re going to lose a lot of talented artists, which is rather sad.
 
Speaking of which I hope artists will reconsider their DNP requests. By removing your art from the site you are not hurting a homogeneous entity representing nazism/censorship, you are only hurting average users of this site who might not even care about politics. The lists would work only because there are people who want this site to be a better place. Right now the confrontation has started and would be dumb to be the first side pulling out, sure, but after everything settles I hope you can reconsider.

This. Plus there’s already at least 2 other edgy 4chan boorus being developed. All the anti-censorship DNP artists - who are dwarfed in numbers by the anti-nazi DNP artists btw - can just go there and everybody wins. Hey, remember when the mods blocked Christchurch shooting uploads last year? No such worries on Edgibooru, post all the low effort race bait you want! And everybody moves on with their lives.
 
Anti-Nazi DNP list is way bigger, with more influential artists. Thems the facts. If people want Dawnfire and Braeburned art to be on a horse booru any time soon, there’s only one choice for staff to make.

Pretty sure the anti-censorship group’s only waiting for official, on-site confirmation of “no censorship” stance (and maybe a bit of cleared DNP/takedown queue because they’re all done manually and by only one staff member…) to undo the DNPs.
 
While I believe majority of “anti-nazi” haven’t even planned to reverse their takedowns because they’re doing it not to make a point, they’re doing it to virtue signal to their twitter friends, and to strong-arm people into submission and would just move the goalposts (i.e. “okay you’ve banned nazis, but I won’t reverse the takedown until you’ve banned foalcon too. Okay you’ve banned foalcon…”) because it’s bullying, bullies don’t stop if you cave in to them.
 
By the way, if you see any “anti-nazi DNP list is bigger” claims, there were a ton of literally whos and furry artists brigading it, and the estimate for the total art pieces lost (because see above) to them is under 10k, while the anti-censorship DNPs total at approaching 17k.

I’ve braved storms far worse than this. When the whole Molestia crap started on Tumblr, I stuck through that to the very end. When the accusations of porn being found on casual internet searches inevitably birthed Safe Search Wrap-Up, I remained unmoved. When controversies like Twilicorn and Equestria Girls and #SaveDerpy swept through this fandom, I remained where I stood.
 
Nothing - and I mean NOTHING - will keep me away from here. Ever. I’m here to stay.

I tried to defend JJ by making it known that it was actually Klondike and myself who created her. But his following was too big and it got drowned.

i’m not giving up on derpi just yet but i’m not really holding out hope either. right now i’m just waiting to see how (or if) the power battle within the staff resolves itself. if derpibooru administration ends up upholding joey’s latest announcement i’ll probably stay but it looks like parasprite is dead-set against that and if they get their way i’m done here. i won’t lie, it’ll be fucking painful to leave behind 8 years of happy memories but i don’t want to stick around if we’re just going to turn into a giant billboard for /mlpol/. in any case i’ve already registered for pillowfort and furbooru so i’m prepared for the end of my tenure here (i’m sure pretty much no one will miss me but w/e, it is what it is.)

I know I’m planning on staying no matter what happens. I value this community greatly for its creativity and dedication, and it’s awesome to see that persist even in the din of things. I’ll do whatever I can to help keep things going.

Staff communication and community involvement are definitely some of the biggest issues that I hope to improve in the coming months. It’s been a big problem for a while now but definitely became much more apparent when we got put under so much stress and pressure.

I’d also expect that any announcement by the site re-affirming that nazi content will stay is only going to further escalate the DNPs, since other artists who haven’t yet been involved in the controversy and are waiting to see what happens will feel pressure to remove their content as well. Once a site makes an official announcement that nazis are welcome, good people who just want to “be excellent to each other” can’t in good conscience participate in something like that.

I’m staying as well. I can sit here and watch the fireworks from all parties involved, but I’ll still enjoy my ponies regardless.

Will I stand with the site? Depends on the issue. The worst thing site policy can do to me is to disappoint me, which I can deal with. The worst thing some individuals (not necessarily staff) can do is to tear down this site, which would be an outrage.

I’m waiting to see what ultimately happens. I have faith in Parasprite and I’m rooting for their efforts but if the site goes censorious anyway, I’ll go to another site.

the amount of people listing that there leaving the site is kinda dissapointing tbh
