Looks like size image in: medium , small , thumb & thumb_tiny don’t display image correctly. The rest size image in: large , 2379927 , full.mp4 , tall & full.webm looks fine. Anyway i make this gif using gimp.

Yeah, oof, seems like another ffmpeg bug.

So i tested scaling in ffmpeg. Looks fine but quality output just bad and have some yellow line on top.  
Anyway this command i use: ffmpeg -i twi.gif -vf scale=250:250 250.gif

The problem is with the palettegen filter. When used in stats_mode=diff, it doesn’t seem to correctly identify the other colors used in the image. This ends up generating a palette with only four colors.

Hmm i see. Well i tested scaling in https://ezgif.com/resize surprisingly good output.

So would ffmpeg with stats_mode=single. It produces good results, but is overall more difficult to work with than a simple static palette.
 
I am looking into fixing the bug in ffmpeg, don’t worry.

I don’t know whether this could be a bug, or a surmountable limitation, or an insurmountable limitation:
 
Regarding reverse image search, and using >>1425895 as an example (since I saw it as a user’s avatar - oh hey look who’s posted just above)
 
Reverse search can find that post based on Derpi’s own full.png, large.png or medium.png and 0.25 match distance, but with thumb.png and small.png it comes up with nothing, not even at the maximum match distance of 1.
 
My possibly mistaken understanding of the reverse search is that it bases recognition on a computed value (average?) of each quadrant of an image, so compression, sharpening, color or contrast adjustments, etc. can throw it off - but I’m surprised by a jump from “can find the image at reasonable tolerance” to “can’t find the image at max tolerance” as the query’s size went down.
 
So, possible bug or nah?

The existing reverse search system has proven to be not very useful and I’m planning to scrap the whole thing and go with a feature detection system in the future. When I will get around to it, who knows.

I fixed the bug in FFmpeg that caused the broken palette generation.
 
Unfortunately, it caused another unrelated bug to appear…ugh

It’s actually the dupe check system and as such “”“optimized””” to check only closely matching resolution and “proportions”, i.e. it won’t find an image with whitespace cropped out and everything else intact, for example. I’ve posted about that.

That’s more of a problem for this image than for others.  
The artist posted it to DA with a resolution of 2448x3020, but the site scaled it down to 1024x1263, which it currently has here too, and with a trick you can also get a 2205x2720 version. So not ideal for reverse search tools.

I can’t login to my account. When I try to reset my password I don’t get an email to do so. Your site still has my email on file because I checked by trying to make a new account with the same email and it said it was already in use. I’ve checked spam folder and nothing is there. I have two old reset and unlock emails from before.

I commented on a picture, which subscribed me to any new comments automatically. Then the picture got merged as a duplicate, and now I get notifications to new comments but can’t unsubscribe. The “unsubscribe bell” on my notifications page just says “You can’t access that page” on the next loaded page. Deleting the notification works, but I stay subscribed.
 
Also, is there a way to see how many and which pictures I am subscribed to, and unsubscribe all of them at once?

Is fetching from twitter broken for anyone else? Pressing fetch on twitter links is giving me an orange bar with no message.

Fingers crossed, it’s fixed now.

Does Twitter differentiate between image tweets and text tweets which contain images? That’s the reason some Tumblr posts won’t auto-fetch, because the scraper interprets Ask responses and text posts as Not An Image, even if there is an image on the post.

No, Twitter just slightly broke the way we fetch. We use their “secret” v2 API by scraping the guest API token out of the mobile response page, and it turns out that they deployed a unification to their mobile and desktop pages, which made that stop working. It was an easy fix.

Try unsubscribing from the toolbar at the dupe-target image page itself, rather than Notifications.
