It would be a lot harder here in fact as the site and the fandom, do to 4chan influence, inherited a lot of terminology and shitposting styles that have such colorful language. So, their is a lot of gray even if you go for a ban. For example: would Derpy Hooves birth be retroactively deleted for containing the word retard? >>19579

And i assume that those degenerates visit more than just two websites, they should be able to assimilate.

Fully agreed, I wanted to give the justification for context. I think having a “you are responsible for your own filter / you are responsible for what images you see and interact with” might not be a bad addition. Verbiage would need to be cleaned up to fit with the rest of the site rules.

This exists as a best of both worlds. Filters exist to hide content people do not want to see, and hateful commentary and harassment is still banned as it always has been.  
Combine it with having default filters set up for whatever the site deems as ‘sensitive material’, and you’ve fixed the issue. The only people who’re upset are the extremists calling for everything banned or no rules at all.

I definitely think that image in particular shouldn’t be a problem, and illustrates the problem with caring blindly about words without context, even if we accept that “retard” is a slur (it’s not changed at all, it’s literally a word for someone with a medical condition originally).

this is too broad, if one is so compelled to portray something as heinous as bigotry in a work, the criticism of that bigotry should be a requirement.

Yeah gonna go with evan here, demanding an artist disparage something you personally don’t like as a mandatory requirement for their art to be hosted is a bit of a reach. See: Basically any fictional propaganda piece for the Fallout: Equestria setting.

It does carry significant implications with our fandom. Just on the word retard alone, you can find it in everything from the Mentally Advanced Series to art today >>2148187. Does it mean that if someone finds offensive that its wrong? No. But it would be a massive paradigm shift.

They are a magnetic pole on the site that led it to have such lax standards for 8 years. The site and the fandom as a whole are still pretty intertwined with /mlp/ influence. Influence though is not control. There are some that are perfectly accustomed to the edginess levels allowed here and art that this products of this culture. You can try to cut it out and but it would be much different than simply cutting out a cancer to an otherwise okay body.

as is said in the rule itself: context matters. the propaganda pieces in fallout equestria act as criticism of said propaganda because we know (from context) that the groups which create that propaganda (in universe) shouldn’t be supported.

the word critical is a very broad word in itself, it doesn’t always mean explicitly saying “this is bad do not do this”. it can be more subtle than that.

I’ve often seen them spend half their time creating and validating stereotypes about groups without hinting they don’t truly hold the values they are expressing. Just like Aryanne, it’s implied by the absurdity.
