So, clientside setting could work, but on rethinking it, a dropdown is better since short filenames are the more common use case, this way people can choose on the fly, and it's less code to maintain.
 
In doing this, I decided to move down file info as well to really shrink the required space of the top metabar, with the idea to have it off to the side under download so it's still grouped more with the buttons than the uploader info.
