I do agree with it being odd having the edit buttons being above the tags.
 
A separate question: I’m not fully against separating the tag/source editing buttons. But I am curious why it’s necessary. It feels like it’s a decision that would just add more clutter [more buttons] to the page than there needs to be.
 
What is the necessity of having them be separate buttons?

When they’re combined as a form, they have to hit the same endpoint, which means they’re combined in the controller too. Seeing as their UI and backend processing is completely separate otherwise, this results in some very convoluted code and has led to bugs (a particularly nasty one being that source changes can get accidentally reverted when you change tags).
 
Also, this leads to no net increase in buttons, because it eliminates the row currently below source by moving them to proximal locations, which is generally better UI to begin with.
 
On an unrelated note, verified artists can now edit descriptions on their own art.

About that unrelated note … doesn’t that mean any verified artist could just add their artist tag to any image to change its description ? Would be a bit of a loophole.

I reverted the artist description editing thing.

I appreciate the offer. That could be useful once my fingers learned the new pattern. Are there any downsides to adding such shortcuts, though? I was under the impression that you are trying to increase efficiency.
 
I am curious if there is a reason for moving the “Edit tags” buttons above the tag cloud? I don’t think the previous configuration was a problem.
 
Another thing: was something just altered on the header bar? It looks like the part beginning with “uploaded by” is now left-aligned instead of centered.

Might be reasonable if there’s a timer on that sort of thing. And artists who abuse it will get banned, and no longer be verified artists, so I dont think thats tooooo much of an issue really

Why do the image headers suddenly look like this instead of being centered like they were a bit ago? Is this a bug maybe:

Yes, an indentation mistake when I was moving things between files in order to correct a problem with mod tools UI.

Timer isn’t that important, but other backend changes and related mod tools are necessary, just so we can easily undo damage.  
It’s shelved for now, although like 90% of said backend and tools work is done so it shouldn’t be too hard to get it polished up within the next week or two.

The shortcuts are extremely simple, they just use some HTML builtin stuff, I’ve already gotten them all working. It’s not so much an efficiency thing by the way as a complexity thing; it’s much easier to prevent bugs and work on code when separate things are actually, you know, separate.

Originally, I had basically the red theme mockup implemented. I made things buttons because of feedback from other staff, iteratively. I think you ignore the importance of having defined borders around text that help people visually distinguish or group things.

On another note, I removed the U from “favourite” and spruced up the “List favoriters” tab a little.

After noticing quite a bit of inconsistency in how our UI presents things, I’m going to be doing some touchups. The first of these is to the comments header on image pages, so that the button’s actually a button. I further plan to go after the improper use of link coloring in tabs, like Write/Preview on posts or the image options area or the settings page. I’m not sure about going after the buttons in the image page header, it might make it look too ugly to add borders of any kind.
 
Tag/source editing splitting has progressed rather slowly, nothing new to report yet as I’m looking at final polishes and how best not to screw up everyone’s muscle memory badly right away.
 
Additionally, there’s been a few rule text updates, #2 and #7 should be a bit clearer and easier to read.

Could you please make the refresh comments button not this ugly?
 
Also, not everything has to be a distinct button.

I’m looking at you, giant (Material Design?) UI change from a while back.
 
Looks like I’m going to have to alter my user-styles to make this refresh button consistent with my other buttons…

Material design has multiple button types, with “text buttons” being for much less prominent actions only. Refresh is the primary action of that area, so in material design, it should have a fill. If it was made the way it was before because of material design, then someone misunderstood material design.  
Also, I plan to make the buttons similar to that styling; the fill-height is a minor issue.

Relatedly, I’ve changed the fill to be mostly transparent, and sharpened button borders a bit. That should provide a better mix.

Please don’t overdo it with the big heavy buttons.

It still looks bad. Fill different from the color around it already acts as border; if you insist on there being a border anyway you need to add vertical margins.
 
Also your point doesn’t even work, majority of the buttons on site, including primary ones, don’t have different fill or border when not hovered over, and they look better than if they, without other changes, would have with borders, with no difference in actual function.
 
P.S. Just re-read it, evan’s buttons look terrible and that you’re thinking of making buttons look like this for everyone is very troubling.

I’m in agreement with this.  
Right now the refresh button stands out as the only one of its kind on the site. And, frankly, just looks poor.
 
I can’t remember what it looked like before, [hardly payed attention to it.] But if it was like the other buttons on the comment header [Page numbers, “next”] Then I’d say return to that. Make it uniform. Instead of having a wonky button poking out and looking out of place.
