Suggestion: Voting affinities (light, dark, neutral)

While this isn’t a necessary statistic, it would be interesting to see each user’s voting affinities. If the user has 20 more downvotes than upvotes, they are dark. If the user has 20 more upvotes, they are light. If upvotes and downvotes do not go over this threshold, they are neutral.

This was implemented some months ago.
 
Guess it didn’t work out in the long run.

It should be brought back because it can make users more self conscious about their negativity. I’m a registered user posting as anonymous because I’m actually afraid this post will attract some hateful PMs.

Like Blackie said, they tried that months ago. Having something like that just doesn’t work in the long run.

nope, it made users to on purpose upvote/downvote for a specific colour.

We tried that out for several month. The first week, we had some people intentionally mass downvoting so they could be dark and edgy.
 
After that, historical data showed that nothing changed in comparison with pre-reputation.

I was always in favour of that; upvotes and downvotes public and no need for faves. But, well, it was seen as a bad idea. Other admins may be able to elaborate better.

why all the tears for downvotes?

We have filters for a reason. If you’re consistently downvoting content you could easily filter, filter it. Otherwise you’re being a turd.

A flawed system. I am extremely negative and merely use cold indifference to express my ire.

For content you would normally want to see, but is bad for some reason. Seriously, if you don’t like, say, Fluttershy, and you’re downvoting every single image that has Fluttershy in it, then just filter Fluttershy.

If you want an example, say you like Applejack. But someone uploads a very poorly drawn Applejack. Downvote, but not filter.
 
If you downvote every image of applejack that has some tag related to it, eg, incest, then filter the offending tag. If its only applecest that bothers you, either deal with missing out on sparklecest or whatever you do enjoy or just put it in the spoilered list and don’t click on it if it has “applejack” in the tags. If its a common enough issue there’s a fairly good chance it’ll have its own specific tag to filter/watch.
 
Even if it doesn’t, hopefully at some point we’ll be getting compound tag filters and then people will have no excuse not to do it outside of being lazy and/or assholes.
