The logout button's placement.

The logout button on the site’s standard desktop format is in my opinion in an award and inconvenient position. Being so close to the profile button, a user could if not careful or focused on his actions could click the logogut button while trying to get into his profile menu and get log-outed automatically,no “are you sure” or anything.
 
This has happened to me a few times and while I’m not sure how other site users are opinionated on the logouts placement or if any accidental log outs have occured to be a problem or anything. But having to imput your registry information for an accidental click is something I find annoying. while it’s not so big a problem if you have the remember me option clicked thus a near instantaneous login or don’t mind imputing your infromation, this is a larger problem on mobiles or tablets where the remember me option apparently doesn’t exist and as such you will have re-input your information(big problem if you don’t remember) from scratch all because of a misclick.
 
Minor inconvenience at best I know but I feel this can be easily solved( I think so, I am ignorant of the workings of website operation) by either re-positioning the logout button a bit farter from the profile button or at the instance of a click giving a pop-up to confirm if you want to log-out.

We could also do the thing we did on the mobile site, ie  

Yeah, I remember during the update the placement was altered to be below where it was now, and I thought that was a good step. Not sure if it’s still like that,I don’t use the mobile version much anymore. I Know that the tablet version which I use extensively doesn’t even remember your information even if you click the remember me option. And it’s smaller frame and clumsiness of human fingers makes it more vulnerable to accidental instant logouts.

I use AdBlock to hide that damn button. I kept accidentally logging myself out while trying to blindly grab the scrollbar.

a[href="/users/sign_out"] so you can block it using Stylish or a userscript as well.

I’m afraid I have no idea how to apply that.  
Is making a change to the buttons placement or operation for the site unlikely?

I’ve never had a problem with accidentally clicking the logout button. The profile button is pretty big; hard to miss it. I usually click near the left side of it, though, so that’s probably why.

No offense, but how exactly one would be accidentally clicking on the logout button instead of the use dropdown menu thingy (which I know is also a button to go to your profile) on the desktop layout is lost on me. They’re both pretty big (although I guess if you have a really short name this might not apply, but your username doesn’t look particularly short to me…).
 

 
Still, though, perhaps the logout button could be spaced a bit farther away from one of the most used buttons on the site, or maybe part of the dropdown menu (also spaced a bit from the rest of the options or something).
