Listen, here’s how it is, down straight.
Someone suggested we add fave numbers to thummbnails, because faves are meant to be more important than votes. So we add that. Problem, popular images suddenly fit without needing two lines, which breaks site formatting.
Solution, look at the least used element in the thumbnail header, and take it out. That’s downvotes. Downvotes are a hardly used site feature, and are generally used either to vote bomb troll posts, “shitty art”, or used by people that don’t want to filter images.
We have data. No, we aren’t going to give you that data because it would be a pain in the ass to extract it, make it readable and presentable. We know how downvotes are used. You can call it subjective or made up or whatever you want. I know you don’t give a damn about what I or any other mod says, you made that clear months ago.
Anyways, we value showing fave numbers more than we value the small number of times a user needs to downvote an image because it’s legitimately bad rather than because it’s a fetish, theme, artist or character they don’t like.
If people think being able to upvote from the thumbnail is unfair, they’re welcome to go to the features and suggestion thread and present an argument there.
If the image you fave also gets upvoted it is okay. Keep that feature at least.
