When she was a filly she used to think Zephyr was going to be the successful child of the Shy family. He had imagination high energy and confidence, qualities Fluttershy lacked back then. There were times as a filly she was even a little jealous of Zephyr.

Nevertheless she always wanted to portray herself as a successful student in Flight School. She wanted her brother to be proud of her. She often told stories of how heroic she was. And Zephyr not only believed it but saw her as his hero and thought she was someone who had no flaws whatsoever.

Megaradash was never a spur of the moment. Rarity has been waiting for years to have an excuse to give those clothes to Rainbow Dash.

Starlight is more of a tomboy than being girly. She prefers action and adventure and while not completely disinterested in fashion, she doesn’t really obsess over it unless it’s for practical reasons like when she was a dictator to make herself look more professional.

She and Rainbow sometimes go on adventures together.
