Down with Molestia

I think I am done with the whole damn tumblr drama, I use the site for specific image references and promote my artwork but really find this discussion very tiring when the discussion boils down to cyber bullying on both sides. The movement will lose a lot of steam when they start the “with us or against us” approach.
 
If anything, I too am guilty of making rape jokes with the Molestia persona:

So by making these jokes, do I excuse the crime? no. Does it make me cold-hearted to what happens to those in real life? no. Do I believe I am giving a pass to those who wish do such a crime by making these jokes? fuck no!
 
Reason? two things, I could tell the difference between what is surreal and fantasy and what is an serious issue in real life. I could laugh something at a subject of Molestia while have feelings of rage at the rape scene and attempted murder in the movies like “I Spit on Your Grave” or “The Last House on The Left”.
 
The other reason, sometimes, as much as unfair life is, it is also pretty fucking cruel. As much as many of us would like to make it fair for everyone regardless of color, gender, sexual preference and the like. Sometimes we all need to laugh at how messed up life has been or can be. Comedy, at times, is a reflection on society and issues that should be addressed and examined. If things are to be talked about seriously, there is a chance someone is going to make it a subject of comedy. It’s one of the ways that people use to deal and one the biggest form of expression of freedom that we have.
 
While I understand the intentions of what PP is trying to accomplish, I stand go by the truth of the freedom of comedy from South Park: “it’s either everything free to target for comedy or it’s nothing.”

True but the net definitely made it far worse as it was always there and with no real web based identity. They had no fear of ridicule or that their words would affect them IRL.
 
Men are also capable of leading such movements. Really it’s that humans run more on emotions and instinct then logic.

I believe this is one the reasons why politics is historically a male occupation. Women are usually driven by emotion rather than logical thinking… not all women are like this, mind you. And some men can be quite like this.

Don’t be so sure that men arnt driven by emotion like women. Its that our emotions are different then women’s. Men are just better at keeping certain emotions in check if for no other reason then to prove there manhood.

Wife can kick husband out of house. And it is the husband’s fault.  
Wife abuses husband. Often seen as “maube the husband did something wrong”.
 
If the husband does any of this towards his wife, he gets into trouble. Calling a woman stupid can get you into trouble. But women calling men stupid is A OK.
 
And yet, women in the western world still claim that they’re unequally mistreated and demand more rights.
 
Gender equality… never existed, and is inverted.
 
How long before we see a Men’s Rights movement?

Women keep the children in case of divorce.  
Women have a easy escape when cheating, if a man cheats, its the worst thing it ever happened.

No need for sexism in here. Modern feminism exists out of a reaction to lack of progress. Extremists like Tumblr users probably had some sort of bad experience and want revenge.
 
Based on my experience with Reddit athiests/MRAs, this kind of extremism crosses gender lines.
 
It tends to manifest itself in people that:  
A. Have some sort of physical/mental issue that gives them less confidence speaking in public  
B. A history of bad experiences with the subject  
C. Tend to not be particularly eloquent abd rely on emotional appeal over rational thought  
D. Have a black/white eorld view.
 
So yeah. Not really about gender as much as it is feeling like society has wronged them.

Recently there was a movement here in latin america called “Princesos” or “Princess-ce” (a male princess). It was about men who didnt want to act like society wanted them to act, since they were as sensitive/sensible as women.
 
They were mocked, of course.

I really despise those f-ing double standards.

I think this allready exist. I remember reading an article in English class four or five years ago, (teacher was an feminist) about men who want the same acceptance as women when they decide to go into a baby pause/ raise children as women do after pregnancy.

That’s what the whole MRA movement is. Unfortunately, it is constantly discredited by people who join the movement for the wrong reasons. Similar to how feminism is stereotyped as a bunch of women who hate men, the MRA movement is stereotyped as a bunch of misogynists trying to promote misogyny. Often feminist groups try to harass them as well, since they see them as distracting from their issues and not even worth thinking about it at all.
 
They look at the higher rates of incarceration, increased probablility of early death, likelier use of a weapon in suicides, and similar as people trying to distract from the REAL issue. Don’t even bring up some of their beliefs like that a man who wants to be a nurse/fashion designer/elementary school teacher is suspect, especially the last one. There’s also, strangely, a tendency to not exactly be welcoming to LGBTQ people among the more rabid ones.
 
“Egalitarianism” is a dirty word to many of these “equality” activists, male or female. They don’t want equality. They want revenge and then a position of power where they can continuously perpetuate their gender as the best while brushing off the desires of the other.

The major reason why men have a seemingly higher incarceration rate than women is largely due to the fact that men outnumber women in much of the world.

It’s also due to the increased amount of men who will join gangs as a way to acquire acceptance/safety, but yeah. That is true.
 
But back to the movement: when one of its largest supporters throws out quotes like “1 in 20 men is a horrible rapist” yet romanticizes and normalizes violence in their artwork, how can it be taken seriously?
