Favorite and least episode

What’s your favorite and least favorite episode?

Secret of My Excess: Mainly for the third act where Spike basically went Kaiju-style on Ponyville.
 
Least favorite:
 
Ponyville Confidential: EVERYPONY WAS A JERK!

Deserved it? The only pony who could have talked to them and listened to them was Rarity and the episode didn’t follow up on that.

Favorite Episode: Tough to say, but probably “Testing Testing 1-2-3”
 
Why?: The “moral of the story” really resonated with me, as someone who is both extremely fidgety when bored, and as someone who has Twilight-level freak-outs about tests. Plus, everypony did their best to help, with varying levels of success (but consistently high levels of hilarity). This is the sort of thing everyone needs to learn: not everyone learns the same way.
 
Least Favorite Episode: Also tough to say, but probably “Games Ponies Play.”
 
Why?: “Hello, are you Ms. Harshwhinny?” *End Of Episode The only reason this plot was able to function as it did was because every character was being extremely vague. “The games inspector, who you will be taking for a tour around the Crystal Empire, will be arriving today. She will be carrying flower-print luggage.” That’s it. No mention of race, coat color, Cutie Mark or other distinguishing characteristics. Just “look for a pony with flower-print luggage.” What exactly was the point of this episode?

Hard to say, really hard to say. If I had to choose one it would probably be Sweet and Elite.
 
Least:
 
Spike at Your Service. You know why. Everyone knows why. Worst-episode-ever.

With 80-something episodes - the vast majority of which are good to great - it’s tough to pick a fave. It’s even tough to pick a least-fave, because on the rare occasions this show fails, it fails spectacularly.
 
Favourite:  
“Party Of One”, because it’s the episode I’m most likely to go back and rewatch. And I love Pinkamena.

“It’s About Time” - I have an irrational hatred for this episode. Mostly because I can’t stand stable time loop stories and its ending is bullshit. Sure, on a technical level it’s not bad, but IAT has the distinction of being one of only a tiny handful of episodes that I’ve never gone back to rewatch. (MotFE is another)

Fave: UGH probably a tie between Pinkie Pride and Suite and Elite. The decision to bring on Weird Al may be the best guest star ever, however, Suite and Elite is what sold me on Rarity’s character.  
Least Favorite: Flutterbat. No Contest. most retconned fanservice ever made, and Fluttershy deserves better.

Favorite episodes-Party Of One, Lesson Zero, Maud Pie, And Pinkie Pride.  
Least favorites- Most of Season three, except for Too Many Pinkies and Apple Family Runion. Also, mare do well, and its about time.

Shoved in there with no real rhyme or reason. Stands for retroactive continuity. It just means they shoved in a bunch of things that don’t quite work with the previous intel we’ve been given on the universe. I went back and rewatched the episode, and I suppose the term isn’t as applicable as I had been feeling it was. Still tawdry fanservice though, and that I won’t budge on.

Sadly, that seems to define Fluttershy’s character in S4 since they know how popular she is. Makes me wonder why there’s so many AJ episodes when she is by far the least, but I suppose they prop her up with others.

Yeah. Honestly, they haven’t really ever given Fluttershy a story arc. I just love her for entertainment value, but lately she hasn’t really even had that.

I’ll say Pinkie Pride for my fav.
 
As for least fav, I’m tempted to say MMC, but Bats! pissed me off way more.

Broken record and cliche, but no shock that the weakest episode of the season thus far was a Williams one. I’ve moved Daring Don’t up and Bats! down in my ranking. At least she only wrote one episode this season and may not be coming back.

so what’s your favorite?

I don’t really have a single favourite and least favourite episode, but if you were to twist my arm, I’d say that my favourite is Fall Weather Friends, because it exploits the character dynamics of Rainbow Dash and Applejack really well, amongst other things.
 
Least favourite is a tie between half of Season 2 Call of the Cutie and Owls Well that End’s Well, mainly because of how cringe-inducing that I find them

worst putting your hoof down oh god it sucked

My least favorite episode is Feeling Pinkie Keen because I don’t like the way some of the lines can be interpreted and because of the rampant Twilight Sparkle abuse.
 
My favorite episode is Magical Mystery Cure. I love the music, the story, and it’s the only episode to make me cry tears of happiness.

Favorite: Hard to say for sure since there’s a lot of grey area about what I like best in a given episode, but I’ll go with Suited For Success. It was the first episode I saw that really won me over and cemented Rarity as best pony.
 
Least favorite: Also hard to say. Magical Mystery Cure is very high on my shit list as it is one of the worst examples of storytelling I’ve ever seen, relying on lazy tropes to deliver an unsatisfying conclusion and raising way too many questions which still have not been answered while further cheapening alicorns as a concept. But in terms of actual quality, well it doesn’t infuriate me. Mysterious Mare Do Well has all the characters acting like assholes, and of course given my dislike for the character you can pick pretty much any Spike episode. But first prize for my most hated episode I think has to go to Castle Mania. It is the only episode I felt was not only a waste of my time, but actually insulting.

Favorite? Hmm, well, I’d have to say “Return of Harmony.” Easily the best “shit gets real” episode to date.
 
As for least favorite, I’d say Mare Do Well. There’s not really much I can say about why it sucks that others hasn’t already been said.

I should point out I’ve only seen bits and pieces (apparantly all from Season 3).
 
Favourite:  
Still Luna Eclipsed (I like atoners, added to the fact that it’s the first episode I saw). Honorable Mentions: The season 3 opener with Discord (I don’t know the name) and Magical Mystery Cure (because I didn’t know it was a season finale and the whole Twilight regenerating thing was a little unexpected).
 
Least Favorite:  
Games Ponies Play (for the same reason YetAnotherBrony mentioned), Equestria Girls (If it counts, for pretty much every possible reason).
