As I understand it, they’d be brought up to the level g4 unicorns are, where they do one magic trick particularly well.

I’ve been thinking to myself and I think it would be interesting if G5 Ponyville was a coastal town (somewhat similar to its Pony Life version). It could nicely compliment an enchanted forest (like the Everfree Forest apparently is supposed to be) and a cloud town (like Cloudsdale).

Interesting - G4 was particularly slow to incorporate ocean/water elements, perhaps so it could maintain ambiguity on the matter of seaponies. Hmm… maybe a river through the town instead, like G3 Ponyville?

Separating fresh water and salt water ponies into hippocampi and kelpie would be an interesting idea.

What if G5 had some symphonic metal tracks? It would be perfect for a girls show with action and drama. Symphonic metal like Nightwish, can combine thrilling heartpumping action with beautiful and sentimental emotions. It could appeal both to the masculine and feminine sides of the psyche. It would also especially work well if G5 had a more dramatic and emotional tone.

I would love to see a fight to the death between the Raritylike character and her former lover to the tune of Ghost Love Score.
 
And speaking of romance, I think G5 can have romance but they should limit it to a few of the main characters. And just like with Naruto x Hinata, the pairings should represent bigger themes of the show. Perhaps there could even be tragic romances where a pairing just couldn’t work or maybe even a fight between lovers.

Honsetly, I think it would be a great idea for mlp gen 5 to tackle much deeper on romantic relationships. That’s a problem I had with gen 4, it’s only tackled frienship making it limit itself to teach childern other things. Also I would love to see some more parental relationships too.

Yeah make more diverse topics. And I think the romance aspect could help attract a more teenage and young adult female audience. And the ideas of parenthood and maybe even marriage would be great too. But of course everything has to be in balance.
 
I think friendship in g5 should be generally about all types of relationships from romance to friendships to parenthood and even to enemies.

exactly, if there aging up the demographic hopefully we will get to see more gay characters without it being “shied away”.

Let’s see:  

We could have a episode where we could see the main cast individualy hang out with their family memebers.This might be too dark or serious,but we could even have a situation of a abusive (mentally or emotionally) parent or guaridan dynamic,heck even romantic dynamic, just to teach the audience there is a difference between a good relationship and a total terrible one.

Agreed, I never was a fan of the no hugging no kissing rule, something that Lauren Faust and her husband supports in their cartoons. It would be nice that one of the main characters are in a romantic relationship.

Sounds like ripe material for a Christmas episode. Best to leave the abuse to a secondary or one-off character, though.

I’ve seen shows like Avatar kind of tackle issues like this. Heck Zukos dad literally burnt his sons face. Of course they didn’t show the actual burning.
 
And maybe the key is you need to do say or imply the abuse or show what will happen but not to show the actual abuse. Granted Avatar is meant for an older audience, but even they didn’t show the worst and it still worked. So they can make one the Mane Six have this stuff happen if they use some subtlety.

As a romantic (as in love of emotion over cold logic) on the level of Rarity, I always felt like that rule was kind of an elitist rationalist rule meant for people who are too smart for that kind of sappiness. (I try not to think like this anymore thank goodness.)
 
But nowadays even though I prefer there to be some romance, I can understand why they try to avoid it. It can really be distracting if done poorly. Sometimes no romance is better than bad romance.
 
However to me I think what I really would like is strong relationships between males and females (and other types too) that could POTENTIALLY turn into romance. That’s why I like about the ending of the show. They implied the Discord and Fluttershy ship without confirming it.
 
I guess it would coincide with better and more numerous male characters.
 
Besides wouldn’t a young lass want to fantacize about a charming husbando?

I would like to see a romantic relationship as well. I don’t care if it is a straight or same-sex (both are equally fair to me), as long it doesn’t define the characters’ entire personalities or take away the focus from other characters, it would be fine!

I don’t care for the Fluttercord ship, they just friends at the end of the show, Pinkie Pie was the only one out of the six that ended up in a relationship, and that came out of nowhere.
 
The new show don’t have to show romance in every episode, just make one of the main characters already in a relationship before the show even started.

I think the rule was in place to subvert the expectation that it would be in a girls show. The principle behind it is fair but even “boys shows” have romance on occasion. And if the Mane 6 can’t be in one at the very least the burgeoning emotions could have been explored a little with the CMC. “I don’t understand these feelings!” My guess is Sweetie Belle or Applebloom would be the one to get the treatment.

How far into a relationship? “We’ve been together for a couple years” or “we’ve been married for a few weeks” or what?

Since G4 has been so focused on interpersonal relationships, I think a better exploration of the four loves and how love can change would be a good way for G5 to go. Some episodes could focus on character flaws, some for personal troubles and some for relationship issues. Design characters around these themes and situations could really make the characters feel more like people (or ponies) than archetypes.
