I just watched the new episode and I’m pretty sure Opaline needs a psychologist.
She just wants dragon fire. I can imagine her singing All I want for Christmas is You and thinking about it.

@The Crystal Artist
I can’t decide.
You and all the other viewers. Opaline seems to have issues that mean she needs psychological help, for her reaction - indicates violent mood swings, we saw her in deep shock, then in uncontrolled rage, then open blackmail against Misty who was badly treated when she failed yet another time… and lastly the fact that she was in a celebratory mood not only because she will get dragon fire at the end. She was not sane after she saw the Wishing Star for the first time.
So what was it that set Opaline off? It is clear that she did not care about holiday celebrations and pretended to be very ignorant of the Wishing Day. Then it meant that she had not seen the Wishing Star before, much less when it came into contact with the magic of the Unity Crystals. She saw someone - and recognized it. We know she sensed a new alicorn when Sunny got her alicorn powers, and sent Misty to Maretime Bay to spy on her. Opaline has magic, but not her alicorn powers - yet it is possible that she has alicorn instincts.
This is now the latest confirmation that there is something very unusual about the Wishing Star.
The book in C3 had more or less said that three crystals fell to the ground from a shooting star, and when Sunny talked about “the Guardians of the Harmony”, it’s possible that she and her father might have gotten the wrong impression. The three crystals had become “guardians”, and the Fire verse Ice page in the book shows an earth pony against a unicorn. In the movie we saw the glass window with the pegasus and the unicorn crystals - together with Twilight Sparkle’s cutie mark. These were in halos with triangular “fins” - which can be interpreted as fire as if these had fallen downwards.
This gives rise to a new hypothesis, that the Unity Crystals may have fallen from the Wishing Star and that the ponies were still united in the early days after Twilight Sparkle. We do not know how the holiday occurs, but this happens in the period when winter started, not when it is darkest of the year.

She needs help by being destroyed <3
I think the movie has decided that she will be reformed. Her appearance in TYT and the finding of the drawing with a heart around her cutie mark then suggests that the MYM Opaline will eventually be reformed and a friend of the Mane 5/New Mane 6. She is depicted as a surrogate mother for Misty, who will not see she is destroyed - we have seen that she has feelings that are not reciprocated, from a daughter to a mother. It is possible that the return of the magic had worsened Opaline’s personality to the point that Misty was put in an uncomfortable dilemma. We’ve seen that even though she’s a good pony at heart, she’s unscrupulous when it comes to things, like she’ll do anything to get the cutie mark. That makes her very interesting in the New Mane 6 in the future.
Opaline will be defeated and forced to flee, but with her alicorn powers intact, when Sunny and her friends stop her. We can thus hope for future clashes between the two alicorns through the G5 until the end. There is a good reason why Opaline having corrupt magic is not yet fully corrupt, the writers will save this for the end of the rivalry or the end of the G5. With Misty as Sunny’s friend, it is obvious that it will end up that Opaline will be decisively defeated and become an important friend of theirs.

Yeah Opaline will never be reformed. Itd be very very tone deaf for the show to portray realistic parental emotional abuse then do a heel turn and go “forgive your abusers!”. Plus everything is kinda pointing away from her.
She’s not just cartoonishly evil like NMM, Chrysalis and Sombra, she also is realistically evil, especially to a character who they should care for. Her personality and role in the story kinda requires she isnt reformed (like what problems could they have if they had another op alicorn on their side???)

Ayo Opaline, is there a side to you that you’re not showing? I caught you in 4K there singing!
Episode was fine enough, I did like the comedy and the interactions between Misty and Opaline were good.

It is Misty who decides her fate. And what is known so far about Misty is she does not want to see Opaline destroyed and killed. Sunny has also demonstrated that she does not believe in extreme solutions either. She will not kill. And the magic - the Harmony magic - cannot harm and destroy living objects. Also, it is possible that there is an intelligence in the Unity Crystals that can refuse to help kill others no matter how evil they are (with few exceptions). And then you also have to take Twilight Sparkle into account. She had refused to destroy Opaline after she had defeated her, stripped her of magic, sealed her alicorn powers and put her in chains for many centuries ––
A hero does not kill. These villains who died in MLP were most often killed through their own actions, last confirmed with the Storm King in G4. But at the end of G5 if The Big Bad of MLP appears, an exception can be made. Meanwhile, Misty and Sunny will refuse. We all know what Izzy’s answer will be. Pipp will find it deeply uncomfortable while Hitch will follow the law, so only Zipp is back. And she is a pegasus who wants to become Queen Storm after her mother, who can be merciless if she finds it beneficial to her people. But she will listen to her friends.
So it is impossible to kill Opaline in G5, she can destroy herself, but it is unlikely that will happen. Instead, she will be humiliated, tormented by her defeat, driven out of her wits in growing frustration, more like Chrysalis in G4 - and eventually driven to the point where she will become corrupted, possessed by only one thought; to defeat Sunny. Only to lose and have to start all over again.
So why are there fans who want extreme solutions?

Because a character who is realistically evil deserves it? Its not like the broad cartoon villiany of “take over the world” or something (altho she does have that goal), she is an abuser through and through.
Alot of kids and adults have been hurt by abuse so itd be really really bad for a kids show to basically say its ok in the end. and yeah misty loves opaline still bc shes her mother, that doesnt change the fact its an unhealthy situation thats very blatant abuse.
I dont think theyll kill her (altho id say its possible depending on if shes made of corrupted magic due to a false ascension?), she will likely be a reoccuring villian but for a final thing she will likely be imprisoned in some magical place or jailed.

Alphabittle decides to go to Poetry Night in Bridlewood. He’s determined to win, despite Onyx repeatedly telling him that Poetry Night isn’t a competition.
His poem is just him bragging about how great he is, and how he always wins.

The G5 authors will not kill or destroy Opaline; they will give her a fate much worse than what Posey suffered in TYT. They want a Sombra villain as an evil counter to Sunny who is in dire need of personality development, everyone else in M5 had moved on - and they want her to win, only to lose - time and time again.
We have seen how proud and self-absorbed Opaline is, and the episode with the Wishing Star has revealed an inferiority complex - the green glow around her is a sign of envy and jealousy. Sunny will wear Opaline down piece by piece, in the process of becoming a wiser and better leader in the future. I think Twilight had dealt Opaline a huge blow to her self-respect, and the many centuries of being in chains may have left Opaline mentally disturbed. Tirek could survive in Tartarus because time does not work there, but in the dark castle, Opaline, on the other hand, will be exposed to the effects of time. - Immortality blue in potentiality. In many ways a punishment worse than death.
Opaline probably took Misty in when she was alone and in an unknown world, and may have been a good mother as we haven’t seen any signs of her other than a cowed pony who was subject to verbal abuse. This reveals that she has a good side, but that she suppressed it as much as possible, possibly after the magic returned and she gained “normal” magic. We have seen in “Mane Merge” that Opaline’s magic is corrupted. Then that means her personality has signs of magical corruption. She just hasn’t reached the final stage of magical corruption. We know that Luna’s personality was severely distorted when she was Nightmare Moon.
Opaline will suffer a fate worse than death, and will be reformed - once she is completely destroyed as the evil Opaline. If her cutie mark isn’t complete, that meant we could have an Anakin situation here. And Anakin Skywalker was forgiven in the end.

Shes not corrupted like NMM lol, she was evil before she became an alicorn.
We do not know; it was only in the IDW comics that we saw Opaline as a unicorn, but Discord pointed out that she was a “wicked pony” with her ideas of a “perfect Equestria” - and her appearance was censored for readers. We don’t know if she ascended to become an alicorn or was born as an alicorn. It’s strange that she considered herself a “fire” alicorn. We only know that she may have a vague connection with the Crystal Empire, and that she uses a Canterlot accent. We just know that Twilight defeated her and punished her as hard as possible.
“Fire” alicorn. Did it mean that the classic elements are in the picture? From Greek antiquity we have the classic elements - earth, water, air. The book in C3 displayed two symbols; one about fire, the other about ice/water. We know that elemental magic is very central to Equus, where all intelligent beings can have their own “element” - as S10 had pointed out, and which both G4 and G5 had made an important part of the background.
So if there are multiple “fire” alicorns, then there must be “earth”, “water” and “air” alicorns. There is an additional element, “void”, but in MLP this is surely “magic”. Luna could be a “water” alicorn because of the tidal effect and cold, Celestia could be a “fire” alicorn because she controlled the sun and her magic is fire based, Cadence could be an “air” alicorn because love and emotions are fleeting like air. And then it means that Twilight is a “void” alicorn - the strongest of all.
We don’t yet know what alicorn Sunny will be, but what has been seen so far in TYT suggests that she will be a “void” alicorn. She will eventually be stronger than Opaline. Celestia was stronger than Twilight in G4 simply because she was the oldest. Here, Sunny and Opaline are more equal, although the latter can steal other people’s magic.
Still, Hologram-Twilight was more concerned with what Opaline was going to do than her takeover of all magic and Equestria. Are there alicorns out there that we don’t know about?

They arent gonna introduce her as an alicorn and then reveal her to og be a unicorn just to jebait it and say she was an alicorn the whole time, its a pointless and confusing twist especially for kids.
Also yeah it remains to be seen, as Opaline implies there were fire alicorns before her (i think its a way for a pony to become an alicorn themselves, and the knowledge was sealed away for obv reasons)
Also I kinda disagree, sunny really isnt that powerful, and she doesnt know how to use her powers at all. Opaline on the otehr hand has most of her magic drained yet she is still extremely scary. She could very much take over, but her crippling need to be seen as god and be feared and love prevents her from doing it (implying shes not bound to her castle?)

Hi guys. I don’t really understand English, and I decided to ask you to ask.
Is it possible to come up with a full name for Cozy Glow? It always seemed to me that this is an abbreviated name. Does anyone have any extended name options for her?

Err, cozy glow isnt a name that can be extended by anything really. The most you could do is Cozy Glowing, but that doesnt make sense. We have short single names like rarity, so i dont think cozy glow is abbreviated at all

As said; we do not know. Fluttershy or Discord didn’t describe Opaline as a unicorn, we just saw the horn on her. However, there are indications that she was not unknown to Twilight at first, and may be her niece or student.
Sunny gets stronger with time, when she first got alicorn powers she was probably weaker as her horn and wings were very transparent, but eventually these become more and more solid, and she gradually learns how to control her powers. She can’t fight Opaline now, but she’s getting stronger.
The question is whether she is an “earth” alicorn or a “void” alicorn. The void is the strongest of all classic elements, and for Twilight to be a “void” alicorn seems natural. It seems that a new layer of magical knowledge is now manifesting, because we don’t know how elemental magic came about or how it had become applicable to the whole world, even in non-ponies. If all alicorns - the foremost magical creatures that could have been created by magic - are divided into the five most basic elements - “earth”, “air”, “water”, “fire” and “void” - it is believed that they are the first of the first with magic. “Void” came as a result after the first four elements.
We know about the pegasi - “air”, the unicorns - “fire”, the earth ponies - “earth”, and the sea ponies - “water”. The latest G5 map shows that we will see sea ponies in C4. In G1, we saw “air” ponies, “fire” ponies, “earth” ponies and “water” ponies. The alicorns will then be “void”, but these sprung from the Ponykind and thus will be characterized by their origin. After these first elements, it began to multiply into more and more elements - and this became such an ingrained nature in magic, that all magical intelligent beings are divided into groups by “elements”. Then what Opaline meant is proof that the alicorns have a special claim to all magic.
But then a “chicken or egg” question will arise, were the alicorns first, or were they created by the first magic savvy ponies? In my headcannon - bolstered by observations that magic can be sealed in a magical world because it is “active” as a layer - the very first magical civilization was based on the ponies. It could be hundreds of thousands of years ago. The alicorns may have arisen when magic is explored and used, to better understand and master the mysterious power. Then ancient philosophical ideas from our world are appropriate to use for world building.
But in later times it seems that the ponies went from the “rule of four” with void/magic as an exception rule, and went to the “rule of six”, thus we get the number “six” as a particularly magically significant number, as with the Mane 6, the Pillars and the Young Six in G4, (also these in S10) and the Mane 5 which will expand to the New Mane 6 in G5. When or why, impossible to know.
Such a categorization of all known alicorns according to the five classic elements may be what the authors behind G5 are aiming for, this shows that they want to look far back as well as forward. The knowledge of this may have been forgotten or censored in G4 (Celestia had secret libraries), but this may have become available to Opaline, who may have been motivated by this discovery to become “the wicked pony” in Discord’s words.

I understand that this cannot be shortened and expanded from the point of view of grammar and names of our world and the English language, but I’m just interested in at least just consonant variants of a longer time, even if they are not very similar in their original meaning.
