Red Giant Celestia

I’ve been thinking about something. As well all know, Celestia controls the Sun. And as we also know, our Sun is eventually going to age, slowly killing all life on Earth as the oceans evaporate, all water boils off, and the atmosphere is decimated.
 
But what about the Sun in the MLP universe? Does Celestia start aging as the Sun ages, or is the Sun’s aging controlled by Celestia? Is it possible that Celestia may one day go mad and force the Sun to enter a red giant stage, killing everything in Equestria in a similar vein to Nightmare Moon’s eternal night?

Our yellow sun will die many years in the future. But this is a cartoon so even if she were to change the sun to a Red Giant wouldn’t the planet stay away from the orbit of the red sun. Plus wouldn’t the red sun have an affect on other ponies.

There is a scientific hypothesis of how stars “recycle” themselves with the remaining materials after the novae or supernovae sequence.
