Season 6 Episode Discussion [Speculation/Theories/Beware of Spoilers]

Same. About the only antagonists the writers seem hesitant to redeem are one-dimensional hatesinks like Malory Archer Spoiled Rich, Sven Gallop and Principal Cinch. If that’s the direction this show is going in, I’d rather they go full-on slice of life and ditch the adventure aspect. We do not need Tirek, Sombra and Chrysalis redemption episodes.

I’d like to see more episodes focused on secondary characters next season. Not Slice of Life-type episodes, either: proper episodes with proper stories and character development. If Hasbro says the M6 absolutely must be in every single episode, have it said secondary characters are friends with the M6 in some capacity.* After all, the M6 have to be friends with some ponies other than each other.**
 
 
*I could see Pinkie Pie being friends with Bon Bon, for instance.
 
**We’ve already gotten hints of this, what with Twilight’s Canterlot Friends and Treehugger.

Lyra and Twilight  
Dr. Whooves and Twilight  
Amethyst Star and Twilight  
Octavia and Rarity  
Vinyl Scratch and Rainbow Dash  
Silver Spoon and Sweetie Belle  
Diamond Tiara and Apple Bloom  
Scootaloo and Featherweight
 
There are plenty of other secondary or one-off characters (Cheerliee, Big Mac, Shining Armor, Pipsqueak, Trixie, Sassy Saddles, Moondancer, Lightning Dust, Coco Pommel, The Pie Sisters, etc.) or combinations of multiple secondary and main characters that could also be used in future episodes.

DT and SS hanging out with the CMC’s got to have a fair chance of happening. It’ll be interesting to see how they’re used next season.
 
I’d be happy to see the likes of Cheerilee or Lightning Dust see some action in S6, definitely.

Yeah, worse case scenario is that they won’t appear much now they’re not bullies, hopefully there’s still a role for them.

Chantal Strand said she’s already recorded dialogue for S6, so I think it’s safe to assume Diamond Tiara will be appearing next season.

That’s good to hear, I thought I was up to date with the news but I didn’t know that.

I’m sure this has been mentioned, but: who’d want an episode with Discord and Starlight? Sounds like they’d be the least likely characters to get along. That could be interesting.

I can actually picture Discord trying to become “reformation buddies” with Starlight, and Starlight trying desperately to not be annoyed by him.

Discord can still get on Twilight’s nerves, so “targeting” Starlight would be child’s play for him.
 
Seriously, Season 6 needs to capitalize on this potential character conflict.

Things Discord could do to annoy Glimmer:  
Dump a bucket of water over her head  
Put hot sauce in her food  
Dress her up like a clown and throw pies in her face  
Drop a(n) flower pot/anvil/piano on her

Or is it best to let that Glimmer simmer and focus on the next arbitrary theme they cook up for next season?

You can’t redeem someone who has no path for redemption in the first place. I’m downright certain that they will try to incorporate her into whatever theme they cook up though.

Kinda expect our first one, if we go right back to Glimmer to be a token ‘No, Discord, we don’t do that’ affair. Possibly when she gets called on a mission for the map.
