I agree, in a way, because I don’t think Hasbro would allow something like that, at least not in an exclicit way.
To be fair, I don’t think MLP writers know how to write either couples or romances. Their approach tend to be too simple. Twilight suddenly falls in love with someone he doesn’t know whenever she goes into the EG world, Sci-Twi falls in love with a dude after sharing some lines, Rarity falls in love with that hipster in season 4, Maud Pie’s boyfriend is exactly like her…
I think the only couple I liked in the last 3 seasons were Applejack’s parents, not necessarily because of them, but because of the whole concept of the episode. I kinda wish that episode had shown more chemistry between these two ponies because most of their relationship is basically “let’s love each other”. But it’s still a good episode. It had shown an interesting twist that, instead of jumping the shark, it gave some layers to Applejack. That’s pretty cool.
But before asking for couples, we needed to ask for better romance writters.
Speaking about romances, I’ve heard that Lyra and Bon Bon have been married in the show, but I didn’t see it. Was it in the background or something?
