Leon Kay is indeed a fantastic artist. Hopefully they will make more drawings like this one of Sunny in the future, especially when the new series airs in September.

Say what you want about the Make your Mark animation quality, but I really like the way they animated Sunny’s expressions. She always seems to be very emotive, as seen in this short GIF.

I hope we get to see Sunny with physical wings and horn like this in the future. I can understand why she has her augmented wings and horn currently, but I think it would be a nice level of progression for her.

Those are some lovely drawings of Sunny!
One sad thing to note is that the number of images featuring Sunny seem to be declining. I don’t know if there is just not enough things to inspire artists or bronies are simply losing interest in Sunny, but I can’t find nearly as many images to post here as I used to. Which is a shame, because I love this forum and I want to keep it active for as long as I can.

Sometimes you gotta think outside the booru. Look for Sunny art on other sites then upload it to Derpi (if it’s not DNP). There’s lots of stuff out there that’s not on this site, if you know where to look.

If they have more scenes of Alicorn Sunny, I am sure that will help inspire artists.
Though I should mention that I did personally enjoy Tell your Tale. While it is short, I feel like it is a nice tie-in while we wait for the full length series to arrive. It has a lot of fun moments, and does help to build up the various characters as well similar to what the comics do.

I wonder how many fans are like me and never gave TYT proper consideration due to being put off by its art style. From all accounts, the reviews in my corner of the horse world are that it’s like Pony Life except actually watchable (especially if the art doesn’t bother you).
IMO, Sunnycorn being a recurrent theme in the series proper would be G5 blowing its load too early. It made for a good climactic scene to end the movie, but it runs the risk of making Sunny the only protagonist who matters if the “big” episodes all have an element of “let’s get our Sunnycorn transformation to save the day” to them. Then again, my attraction to FiM was due to all the speculative sociology about all the other ponies who weren’t ever the pony of the week (whether protagonist or villain).

And/or additionally, bringing over the original description from the source if the image has one. Does NOT apply to the uploader adding several to a dozen tags after originally uploading with minimum to bare tagging.

Imagine Sunny Starscout as Superman or in this case Superwoman.
I feel like they are similar. Altruistic ponies who represent hope and optimism in a cynical world.

I can see what you mean, but right now I definitely wouldn’t say that Sunny is ‘overpowered’ or anything like that. She still needs her friends in a very big way, just as Twilight did before she was turned into an Alicorn. But having her powers slowly manifest over time, while Sunny herself learns how to be a proper leader, would be a great way to develop her character and not make her permanent Alicorn abilities feel rushed.
Basically it’s a balancing act: you don’t want to give the other characters too little screen time, but at the same time you also want to develop Sunny as a character as well.

If it were up to you and me, a new pony gen would be much more elegant and horse-like. Alas.
TYT is what it is. It’s Pony. Cute and entertaining. The art style is a little weird but then I think the same can be said of FiM. It just takes a little getting used to. My only complaint is that five minutes are not enough time to really tell the stories properly. It moves along at a break neck pace at times.
@Cosmas-the-Explorer
Sunny is altruistic and optimistic, but not a superhero. She’s really kind of just an average everyday pony, and I’m guessing the idea there is you don’t have to be Twilight Sparkle (or Supermare) to bring people together and accomplish great things. But who knows? She’s got a lick of alicorn magic and if she ever figures it out, she could be a serious boss.
@Eragor14
You really want Sunny to be an alicorn, don’t you? Like, right now! Publiq makes a good point. Other ponies will need to step up too when it comes to the heroics. Personally I’m totally fine with her being just an earth pony for now.

She might be an alicorn someday, but she will always have very humble roots.

I would humbly disagree with you and Publiq. Yes, I really want to see her become an Alicorn. That is my greatest desire for her character. I don’t think it would impact her friends any more than Twilight becoming an Alicorn impacted the Mane Six. They will still get their time on screen. But Sunny is the main character. She should get priority in the end just as Twilight did in G4.

Yeah, I guess this is true. Then again, Twilight wasn’t the Element of Friendship or Kindness, she was the Element of Magic. So that made sense given her character. As for Sunny, I don’t know what element she would be. That hasn’t been mentioned in the series yet. I hope they will mention it in the TV show in September, though.

That’s where we have our difference in taste: I prefer stories that lack a singular obvious protagonist. No point arguing over aesthetic preferences.

Surprising that you like FiM, then. Twilight was always the protagonist, and they never treated her otherwise. I expect G5 to be much of the same, with Sunny getting priority in most climactic events (as she did in the special) and the other characters getting priority in side episodes (as they have in TyT). It is a formula that works, since it gives all the characters chances to be in the spotlight.

Anyway, this is a Sunny thread. The focus is naturally going to be on Sunny in this thread. There are other threads for the other G5 characters, I suspect. But don’t be offended if you see a lot of Sunny here, Publiq.
