The future is Sunnycorn.

The future certainly is Sunnycorn, and I can’t wait to see more of it!

I really admire Sunny’s optimism. It’s something just about all of us can do with more of in our lives. She inspires others to grow and better themselves, and it seems to be one of the major themes of NewGen.

Yay, you’re back Pinto Bean!
And I definitely agree with your assertion on Sunny’s optimism. Frankly, I think that’s something we could all learn from. There’s a reason she is my favorite G5 pony, after all, instead of Izzy (who I do think is adorable, even if I don’t like her quite as much as I like Sunny).

This one is interesting. We all know that Sunny is destined for great things… It just seems premature to assume she will follow the same path as Twilight. For now she’s just an average everyday pony, which is refreshing.

Don’t get me wrong, Pinto, I firmly believe Sunny will become a full Alicorn just as Twilight was before her. However, that doesn’t mean that she will be the same kind of character as Twilight in the slightest. From the very beginning we have seen her approach the issue of spreading friendship very differently than Twilight did. Also, unlike Twilight Sunny isn’t a bookworm, instead having a more average level of intelligence despite her unusually high understanding of G4 MLP. She seems to care more about helping everypony cooperate and treat each other with kindness than to understand the intricate details of magic and leadership in Equestria. In other words, she is more of a down to earth pony than Twilight was, and that will lead to her being a very different kind of princess than Twilight was.
In other words, even when she does become a full Princess, she will still be very relatable and understandable, something that I like about her a lot.

That is exactly why I love her. She is like Superman or Sonic in that her pure goodness inspires others to better themselves. She plays by what she thinks is right not what others say, not afraid to do what is good.

To me Izzy is still fun, Hitch has his interesting personality, but Sunny for me is my favorite character.

She is the heart and soul of the Mane Five and all of G5. And the Team Mom. If she was never born I don’t think unity would have come. She is the spark that makes things happen.

She can be reckless but I think she has a good heart.

I just hope G5 doesn’t forget how more potential she has. And how she should be what inspires others to do great.

Anywho, didn’t know you were a fan of Sunny, Cosmas! That’s honestly pretty fascinating to learn about, since I have seen you comment to several different images in the past but I never gotten around to learning more about you as a user. Always nice to see more Sunny supporters on this site, in all honesty.

Also, your point about her being the heart and soul of the group is why I personally think she makes for such an amazing main character. After all, if you have a solid core character with a rich personality that you can relate to, then it makes that character one that could understandably be the central focus of a compelling story. Sunny has a very compelling personality, and her goals and hardships are both very relatable. In this way, she becomes a very natural leader, though at the same time she never feels like the same kind of leader that Twilight was-after all, Twilight always lead by intelligence, whereas Sunny leads by compassion and friendship (which, in a way, makes her a bit more like Fluttershy than Twilight if you think of it). I cannot wait to see her further develop as a character both in the upcoming special and in the series this fall. We are going to get a whole lot more of her, and I will be here to see every second of it.

And I agree with you on the ‘I hope that G5 doesn’t forget how much potential she has’. Frankly, the trailers for the special give me hope in that regard, because it does look like they are making use of that inherent potential that she has, putting her in situations that will best show her own inherent leadership skills. It also further cements her as the central character of the series, something that Tell your Tale didn’t do enough of. Hopefully this theme of leadership through kindness continues with the series, as I believe they can do a lot of neat things with it, things that have never been seriously attempted in MLP before.
