@Cosmas-the-Explorer
Hear, hear, Cosmas! I definitely felt that way when I saw that as well. I think that will go down as one of the most memorable moments of TyT. Just so much awesomeness in one scene. It also goes to show the benefits of 2D animation, as well-there are certain things that you can do more easily with 2D animation compared to 3D, such as showing action scenes like that one.
Honestly, the fact that G5 is going into the very essence of what it truly means to be an Alicorn is one of the best aspect of the series. As you said, Twilight got her powers a bit too easily, I felt. Early on they didn’t elaborate all that much about what her powers were like, other than the fact that she was effectively an Earth pony, pegasus, and unicorn put together (and since she was a unicorn before becoming an Alicorn, Twilight was already quite used to her magical abilities). I am glad they are elaborating more on that with G5, and I am glad that they made the Alicorn an Earth Pony this time around since it means she has to practice using both magic and flight, whereas Twilight only really needed to learn flight.
Hopefully we get more scenes like this both in TyT and the upcoming MyM series in September.
