What episode made you a fan of the show?

It’s almost my 5th year of being a part of this fandom. (March 28th 2011, actually)
 
I actually watched the season back in Febuary 2011, but the episode that I saw that I was 100% sure I was a fan and when I got caught in the fandom’s works was Sonic Rainboom, it was probably the coolest thing I’ve ever seen on the show at that time.
 
I was 13 at the time, now I am 18, things have changed a lot as time went by, for me and the show.
 
What about you guys? When did you become a fan and what episode did you see that you finally thought “wow, i’m a fan now”?

For my side was “The Cutie Mark cronicles”, one of my favorite episodes of the entire series, for me was a beautiful episode and a great history about the mane six cutie marks, i love when see to all as fillies, was very adorable, specially Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash

The episode that really hooked me for good was Bridle Gossip. It’s just so damn funny and the writing is quite clever.

I started watching the show about a week before Luna Eclipsed. But the first episode where I realized I was really a fan was Best Night Ever. I had binged the entire first season in less than a week so clearly I was a fan before the episode, but it was the giddiness I felt when Twilight was singing about something as simple as talking to her mentor about the things she learned that I realized that I love these characters.

party of one, but in an odd way. my first exposure to the show was cupcakes, and i honestly thought pinkie was a psychopath in canon (though she is pretty close). i wanted to see party of one but i watched the episodes from the beginning. by the time i got to it and had realized she was the life of the party (whose severe mental problems were mostly self-harming) i was hooked on the show and kept watching.

It was the first two-parter, actually. I simply heard about the show, watched the first episode, and instantly liked it. I think it was Twilight’s attitude toward Celestia’s “making friends” business that hooked me. It surprisingly matched my own initial attitude toward the show itself: “all these silly colorful horses are jumping everywhere, and here I am just passing by, trying to figure out why the show is so popular”. By the end of the second episode I suddenly found myself crying together with Twilight as she spoke the words of her realization right before the final strike at Nightmare Moon.

If you twist my arm, I’ll probably say Dragonshy, despite the ham-fisted moral delivery at the end.

Apple Bucking Season.

The whole episode sequence between “Fall Weather Friends” and “A Dog and Pony Show”, although i started watching it from “Sonic Rainboom”.

Fall Weather Friends is arguably my favourite episode from S1, if not then amongst my favourites.
 
To add to what I said above, I started watching the show ~3-4 weeks before S2 aired.

Winter Wrap-Up.
 
 
It kinda had everything that made the show special:  

Equestria Girls.

Lesson Zero. I remember it vividly: The day it aired, my brother was watching it in the bonus room, and I was on my computer doing… something (I forget exactly what). I already knew he was interested in the show, but I didn’t think much of it. He was laughing hysterically throughout the episode, and I thought to myself, “Hey, this is pretty funny.” While Twilight was doing her freakout, I asked him, “Is she normally like this?” He replied, “No! That’s what makes it so funny!” Hearing this, I thought, “Hmm… I wonder what she’s normally like?” He sent me a playlist containing all of season 1, and then I was hooked. Though I also watched Luna Eclipsed before I actually got around to starting season 1, and needless to say, I was a little bit confused as to why my brother was making such a big deal about her.

Oh, yes, on my opinion, that was the best episode of Season 2, out of those i watched (i only watched half of that season’s episodes).

S1E3

Believe it or not, it’s actually the EqG movies that made me a brony by the end of 2014.

Having been a fan of pony since the 80s, I honestly was impressed with the pilot. I had to watch the second part because it was a cliffhanger. By Applebuck Season I was a fan! I was really happy about the show! I started watching the day after it premiered, on October 11, 2010, but I didn’t know there was a fandom until March 1, 2011.

Although, the Mythbusters “Hyper Pinkie Pie” fan comic is what led me to give it a try.

I sound like a broken record here. I recall the pilot episodes being somewhat cringeworthy at the time (mid-May 2011), but then I watched The Ticket Master and Applebucking Season and those really impressed me. Finally, Winter Wrap Up and Sonic Rainboom made me realize that I wouldn’t be walking away from this show anytime soon.

I started hearing about MLP about halfway through the first season and decided to check it out. I skipped the opening two parter for awhile since I heard that was the weakest part of the season, so I started with Ticket Master. However it was the next episode, Applebuck Season, that made me really like the show and the way all the characters interacted.

The first episode, as it was what I found first from this show. Didn’t know the fandom even existed till after I had finished watching S3.
 
Was so fun getting to join in for premiere’s for episodes during S4!
 
S2 opener nearly made me quite the show though x3

I first decided to watch the show after viewing G1-3 of CR’s My Little Pony retrospective. He mentioned a new season coming up and I decided to check it out… and then DisQord showed and I was immediately hooked.

I think it might have been the series premiere or some other episode in season 1.

I don’t remember the exact day, but I started around September or October of 2015.
 
I first discovered this video. Now imagine my surprise when I found out where the song was originally from. I initially dismissed it as some childish show targeted to girls, but after watch that and this video numerous times, my curiosity got the best of me and I looked more into the characters on both the show’s wiki and TV Tropes. The first episodes I watched were the two I mentioned already as well as Read It and Weep and I’ve pretty much been a fan since.
