TBH, I think that Equestria Girls needs to continue, because the holiday ending wasn’t satisfactory, and many other issues had not been resolved yet. But even though I don’t want to be like that notorious #SaveEquestriaGirls fan on Twitter, I really want to know the reasons and the factors behind the end of Equestria Girls.
 
Could it be because it wasn’t profitable, a lack of popularity, or because everyone in Hasbro wanted to rush into G5? Thanks for explaining.

So it’s just “on hold”, and it might come back someday when Hasbro/the staff feel like they’re ready. Like Steven Universe:

But odds are if Hasbro does revisit G4 MLP it’ll be with an FIM special or two.

I just factored:  
  • The main FiM series ended  
  • Waning interest in the main toyline, GoH bombing and the Movie underperforming  
  • The rebooted doll line bombed  
    Honestly I’d put it mostly on waning interest in FiM being the biggest reasons, because EQG was still successful especially in international markets, and hit it big with the Minis while the main toyline bombed hard with GoH.
     
    I mean, they still made EQG doll lines but cheaper versions of the Minis based more on Pony Life in both design and artwork, and Sunset herself got her own toy in the Pony Life toyline, so obviously interest in it is still there. Depending on how successful G5 is, I can see them going back to the drawing board with EQG

G5 is probably gonna get it’s own version of EQG sometime during it’s lifespan tbh.
 
As for why EQG ended, I guess it’s because interest in FIM was dropping and because eqg already done everything they could story wise. (Dazzlings returning, Sunset making amends with Celestial, Sunset and starlight meeting, the EQG cast travel to the pony world…)

They’ll find it, it will be a matter…of time.
 
Being fair though, if Hasbro ended eqg in a way that satisfied everyone, there would be less save eqg stuff.  
Though i guess other factors would be: Adobe Flash no longer being supported.  
DHX’s falling out with Hasbro. (allegedly)

Oh for fuck sake god no,please no, let it be dead and buried. How would they justify it in term of the G5 universe. Isnt there supposed to be a big timeskip in G5 ? NotMonsterHigh world was already set in a world where they got internet and cellphones (remember that fucking reference they did to 4chan because this spin off have no heart),does it mean if they reboot EQG that this fucking dimension stayed in a time stasis locked forever in their 2010s era high school time bubble or on the other hand time would have passed in this world too but they’ll be in a futuristic setting SINCE THEY WERE ALREADY MORE ADVANCED TECHNOLOGICALLY THAN THE REAL EQUESTRIA WITH THEIR RACING CAR AND INTERNET BECAUSE THIS SPIN OFF MAKE NO GODDAMN SENSE.For fuck sake, let G5 be different this time,i beg you,the show is called My Little Pony.You already got Pipp Petals with her cellphone going to Horse Facebook or whatev,we already got the Gen Z tween pandering covered

Because it was a boring show about a bunch of freaking teenagers like any other kid show. Only this time putting limits on the magical world of Equestria with school, camping. What’s up with tv shows and teenagers? Do they really think that only because the main characters are teenagers kids will relate to them? Jeez. I wonder why Donald Duck or Batman are famous among kids. It’s probably because they are teenagers.

I think a better way would be to improvise the EqG world - especially it’s history and how it might become a civilisation of Techno mages. Magical human cultures can make a great story.
It doesn’t need to be stuck in high school forever. Too bad this creative improvisation will be limited to fanfiction, since EqG was more of a trendy cash cow.
