[Dramatis Personae]
BLUE, or BRIGHT IDEA: A cheeky unicorn priest, who is also a spirit world archaeologist.
BYAKHEE: An amoral but loyal spacebug.
HAMBURGER TIME: A grizzled, crippled pegasus, veteran of the Royal Guard and the Griffon Border Wars (Oh come on, don’t tell me that’s not okay, Ham.)
BRUISED REED: A pious and overly legalistic, but sublimely attractive Earth Pony Paladin.
ARCHER: A member of Bruised Reed’s retinue. A pegasus, Archer is calm and friendly, though he enjoys combat a bit too much.
GINNUNGAGAP: A White Buffalo. ‘Gin’ is mysterious and wise, and possesses an otherworldly calmness. He is a chanter, and is excellent at counterspells, and dimensional anchors.
||HAROLD ANGELSONG, or ENOBAI or THAT NECROMANCER: An endearingly inept but knowledgeable milkman. He is the secret identity of the diabolical Coriaphilus Anonce Enobai II, a criminal mastermind who is known to Bright, Byakhee, Hamburger, Reed, Archer and Gin as “That Necromancer.” ||

Our heroes board a train for Coltlumbia, a mysterious city where the World’s Fair is being held. The city itself is the focus of the fair, in spite of all the new technology available to be shown off.
The train stops at Riverside station, where the conductor is mysteriously abducted.
They discover that a cult of Yog-Sothoth has commandeered the station, and engage in combat with them, taking captive their leader, a zebra named Trostani, who mysteriously surrenders.
Trostani fails to give any more pertinent information, other than being generally cryptic. They arrive, and decide to leave Trostani in the custody of the Coltlumbian Police for the time being.
They faff around for a bit, before interesting things start to happen. As byakhee soars through the skies above Coltlumbia, he discovers a tear in space like the one at the station.
As Hamburger investigates town, he meets a local military officer involved in the city’s government named Salton. Bright Idea runs into Bruised Reed the Paladin, and her lackeys, who are stationed as event security. Bright discovers that the city’s government is essentially fascist, and ultra-nationalistic led by a pony named Stock.
Hamburger Time stumbles across Harold Angelsong who he immediately recognizes as the Necromancer. In spite of having both Byakhee and Bright Idea to back him up, Hamburger has no way of proving to Salton that Enobai is who they say he is.
As a result of the encounter with Harold, which ends in Blue losing his temper and chinning him, Byakhee, Blue, and Hamburger end up in jail, along with Trostani.
Byakhee discusses the rift with Trostani, who agrees that it is most unusual, and indicates cryptically that Yog-Sothoth may have wanted him here, which is why he allowed their ritual to be found out.
There is a rumbling through the entire city. As it turns out, the city of Coltlumbia is the world’s first non-cloud flying city, and is designed to be a fully armed and operational battle station. Thousands of fairgoers instantly become hostages, and panic, many of them throwing themselves over the side of the city.
Bright Idea, Blue, and Byakhee remain imprisoned over the weekend, as a griffon border state declares a state of emergency, and threatens to declare war on Equestria unless the city is destroyed.
As the first battles break out in the world below, Stock maneuvers the city over the Griffon border state, and wipes out their capital city in a display of Coltlumbia’s awesome firepower.
Equestria immediately calls out Stock, and battle breaks out between the equestrian air force, and Coltlumbia. The battle results in the destruction of the prison cell, and Trostani is heavily wounded.
As Trostani lies dying, he warns them that the rift has followed them, and that for some reason, more are spreading to other places. With his last breath, he tells them that unless the rifts are closed, all of time and space may be wiped out. He gives them Yog-Sothoth’s blessing, and expires.
Bright, Byakhee, and Hamburger escape from their holding cell, and immediately stumble into a crossfire between Coltlumbian Arms, and Equestrain Military. After a short battle, they repel the Coltlumbian arms.
The Equestrian Military are escorting a scientist named Quantum Entanglement, who reveals that she is here investigating a disturbance in space-time. Byakhee explains about the rift.
Quantum Entanglement says that whatever it is, the city seems to be the focus of it, and after some snooping, they determine that the power source keeping the city aloft is actually suspending it in transdimensional space, making the battlestation itself essentially indestructible while aloft.
They endeavor to destroy the city’s power sources. They travel to the radio station their own vox operator killed in battle, and send a message to equestrian ground forces asking for deliveries of the necessary explosives.
They travel next to the airfield, where they are engaged in battle by a squad of experimental giant robots that are part of the Columbian experiment, and it is only with the timely assistance of Reed’s chanter Ginnungagap that they are able to defeat the indestructible mechanoids.
Once they have secured the airfield, and shut down the defenses, the shipments arrive, but not nearly enough shipments survived the ascent. A rift appears, and in spite of the danger, it proves to be their salvation, leading to a timeline where the explosives made it alright.
A number of squads are deployed to different corners of the city, each with members of the party (including Reed and her lackeys.) The teams are led by byakhee and archer, Hamburger time and Ginnungagap, and Blue and Reed.
Hamburger Time and Ginnungagap proceed to a power station which is located in the science district, and must fight their way past numerous titans (the indestructible trans-dimensional robots), as well as braving multiple rifts, including one where Hamburger meets an alternate of himself. One of them dies, and it is unclear which Hamburger survived. They succeed in placing their explosives, and wait for the command to blow them, staying near to protect them.
Byakhee and Archer proceed through the manufacturing portion of the city, and must fight Salton, who is driving a giant take. The battle results in the demolishment of the reactor casing, causing the internal power to leak, and rifts start to appear at random around the city.
A rift opens between byakhee and the dying Hamburger, and the Hamburger Time Double (apparently an NPC, at least, since our Hamburger is still alive, though this one may well BE our hamburger - it’s complicated) asks to know Byakhee’s name before he dies. Since byakhee has no name, he asks to give byakhee a name before he dies. (I’ll let you decide this one, byakhee. It can even be between you and me if you like.)
Reed and Bright go through the governmental district, which is devastated by time storms, and encounter freakish horrors, and alternate versions of themself, as well as fighting citizens and soldiers driven to insanity by the time-storms. They arrive in the capitol, and descend to the basement where they meet Stock. They discover that Stock is in fact a possible future offspring of Reed and Bright Idea (Blue) (who are both squicked out). He comes from a future where the world was ravaged by a second griffon border war, and determined that he needed to come back in time to stop it.
Now, however, he has seen infinity, and realizes that with the power of Coltlumbia, he can dominate all of reality, and bring it under perfect law. Disgusted, they attack Stock, who fights back by harnessing the power of the rifts.
The timely intervention of an alternate byakhee and hamburger who are dropped through a rift (both of whom would have been controlled by their respective players, rather than being NPCs) and Ginnungagap and Archer evens out the battle, and Stock falls. However, he reveals that with the engines powered up as they are, all of time space would be destroyed if they exploded anyway.
The three teams consult by radio, as the time-storms begin to grow out of control, and members of all three squads spontaneously start to cease having existed - and the three are for some reason the only ones who are able to remember them.
Eventually, they realize that they are not going to survive this encounter, and the three make their peace (with byakhee optionally revealing his new name to the other two party members.)
They realize that to succeed, they must power down the engines, and only detonate the charges once the city has nearly hit the ground. They must detonate the charges simultaneously to succeed.
They grimly raise the city to the necessary altitude, and power the engines down. As it begins its nearly 4 minute long descent back towards the ocean, heat begins to rise from re-entry.
The team says their final good-byes to one another, and Blue reveals that with as disgusting as he thought it was originally, he has always sort of enjoyed Reed’s company, and that perhaps he could’ve married her if things had turned out differently. The two kiss, as the city reaches the zenith of its fall, and the three teams detonate the charges.
Time resets, as the timestorms cease to ever have existed at all, and, with their memories of the whole event surprisingly in tact, the team finds themself standing unharmed in Manehatten, where the World’s Fair is actually being held.
Bright Idea and Bruised Reed immediately return to acting as though they had never made their dying declaration of love, and begin bickering immediately. Archer chuckles, and declares that everything is the way it should be.
Harold, or Enobai as we know he is, watches on, and it is implied that somehow, he retains his memory as well.
In spite of the forboding of Enobai’s reappearance, all is well, and Coltlumbia never existed, restoring Equestria to its former condition, with nobody the wiser. Blue contacts Celestia, and warns her that she should try to keep the country on better terms with the Griffons.
Only one bittersweet fact mars the happy ending: in spite of the rest of their memory remaining, none of them can recall byakhee’s name, himself included. Byakhee bows his head, realizing that the prophecy has come true in the most unfair way possible - he has lost his name.
For now, it is…
