or is this going to stay a primarily g4 site no g4 tag being the default assumption

Unlikely, especially in the near term. Since G5 and pre-G4 images get tagged pretty consistently, someone who wants just G4 can exclude those generation tags through search or filters. Tagging old images as G4 would be a monumental project that wouldn’t expand search functionality too far beyond this. We’re still very early in G5, so maybe this’ll change depending on the success of G5, whether tagging habits change, user demand, etc., but taking action now without having a grasp on these things would be jumping the gun.
